Overview of the Scholarship

Google recognizes the need for diversity in shaping the future of technology. To encourage this diversity, Google Conference Scholarships offer students the chance to participate in some of the world’s top-tier computer science conferences. The scholarship provides travel grants to assist students in attending conferences and presenting their research. The specific scholarship amount and deadlines vary depending on the region.

By attending these conferences, students can gain exposure to groundbreaking research, develop professional relationships, and potentially collaborate on future tech projects.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a Google Conference Scholarship, students must:

  • Be enrolled full-time at a recognized university within the region offering travel grants.
  • Have a research paper accepted for full publication at a leading computer science conference (examples of eligible conferences include CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, CHI, and others).
  • Be the primary author of the paper.
  • Present the paper at the conference, either through an oral presentation or a poster session.
  • Continue to be enrolled as full-time students when receiving the travel grant.

Application Process

To apply, students must fill out the appropriate application form for their region. Specific regions covered under this scholarship program include:

  • Australia and New Zealand
  • East Asia
  • India and Southeast Asia

Each region has its own application form, and the links can be accessed through the official Google Conference Scholarship webpage.

Students from historically marginalized groups are especially encouraged to apply, as Google aims to break down barriers that prevent these groups from engaging in important industry conferences.

Claim Process

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and eligible students will receive feedback within four weeks of their application submission. Once approved for a scholarship, the travel grant funds are transferred to the applicant’s university. The student can then claim the grant through their university’s regular procedures.
