This prestigious program is designed for outstanding candidates to work with data from the unique Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA) to improve the quality and consistency of aged care services across Australia.
Scholarship Benefits
- A tax-free stipend of $33,990 per annum (indexed annually for 2024).
- A duration of three years.
- A Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship for eligible domestic students. International students may need to apply separately for the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (International) to cover fees and are liable for Overseas Student Health Cover.
About ROSA
ROSA monitors various health outcomes, service usage, medication, and mortality of individuals receiving aged care services. By integrating diverse datasets collected nationwide, ROSA provides comprehensive insights into the ageing process, producing evidence to guide policy and practice for more efficient, innovative, and age-friendly services.
Research Focus
Successful candidates will develop skills in epidemiology, big data analytics, health services research, and knowledge translation, aimed at influencing policy within a multidisciplinary team. The candidates will gain hands-on experience using analytical methodologies to produce data-driven evidence that enhances aged care services.
Supervision and Professional Development
The candidates will be supervised by a team of experts, including Professors Maria Inacio and Gillian Caughey, and Associate Professor Stephanie Harrison. The program seeks candidates with backgrounds in public health, epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, or data analytics. Experience with programming languages like R, SAS, or STATA is preferred, but professional development opportunities are available.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Be an International student, New Zealand citizen, or Australian citizen, or a permanent resident.
- Meet PhD admission requirements, including an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or 2A (or equivalent), with a research component of at least six months’ full-time study achieving Distinction (75%) or evidence of equivalent research experience, such as a significant publication.
