The Center for the Study of Africa and the African Diaspora (CSAAD) at New York University (NYU) is now accepting applications for the CSAAD 2025-2026 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. This highly esteemed program provides early-career scholars from Africa and the African Diaspora (excluding those based in North America and Europe) with an enriching research experience at one of the world’s leading universities.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the CSAAD Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be currently based and living in Africa or the African Diaspora (excluding North America and Europe)
- Must have completed a PhD within the last four years
- Research must be focused on Africa or its Diaspora
- Scholars from Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines are eligible to apply
Programs and Research Scope
This fellowship provides scholars the unique opportunity to advance their research at New York University, leveraging the institution’s resources and networks to enhance their scholarly work. Fellows can choose to spend either one or two semesters at NYU:
- Fall 2025: September 2, 2025 – January 12, 2026
- Spring 2026: January 20, 2026 – May 31, 2026
If applying for both semesters, applicants must specify their preference should only one semester be awarded.
