Participate in Swiss University of Lausanne Undergrad Summer Research Programme 2027: Process Explained
The University of Lausanne’s Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme 2027 is accepting applications from undergraduate students worldwide. This eight-week opportunity in Switzerland supports laboratory research in biology, medicine and closely related biological sciences.

01Who qualifies for UNIL SUR?
You must have completed two bachelor’s years and be enrolled in your third year when the programme takes place. Your studies must focus strongly on biological sciences. Dentistry, veterinary science, physical therapy, kinesiology and the field listed by UNIL as “nursery” are excluded.
Previous research experience is not a selection criterion.
02How do you apply for SUR 2027?
- Visit the official SUR programme page for templates, laboratories and the online application. UNIL also publishes the 2027 application instructions.
- Complete the programme questionnaire and select two laboratory heads.
- Upload official transcripts, including an authenticated translation if they are not in English or French. Use portrait documents and unencrypted PDFs.
- Enter two academic referees’ details. They receive automated requests to submit recommendation letters.
I recommend contacting your referees before submitting: their letters share your deadline.
03What could invalidate your application?
UNIL will not consider late, incomplete or incorrectly formatted applications. Submission alone is insufficient if references remain outstanding.

05When does the SUR application close?
The last date to apply for the University of Lausanne Summer Undergraduate Research Programme 2027 is 15 November 2026, by midnight CET (UTC+1). Recommendation letters are due by the same cutoff. The programme runs from 5 July to 27 August 2027.
