TCCM Erasmus Mundus Scholarship 2027 Opens for Computational Chemistry Master’s
Applications are open for the 2027 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling (TCCM), coordinated by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain. The two-year degree trains you to model molecules and materials, with research topics ranging from drug design to astrochemistry. Selected scholars receive €1,400 a month, with tuition and health insurance covered.

01How do the TCCM study tracks work?
TCCM offers two first-year tracks across eight degree-awarding universities. You start at your enrolment university. If you choose to move in the second semester, you can do so within your track. You must study in at least two consortium countries and earn at least 30 ECTS in each mandatory mobility period. Your country of residence and nationality at enrolment affect which placements count.

I’d compare the first-year modules before choosing a preferred host. Trieste lists introductory machine learning, while Groningen lists reaction mechanisms. The fourth semester is reserved for your master’s thesis.
02What does the €1,400 monthly scholarship cover?
The TCCM scholarship covers tuition and health insurance and pays €1,400 per month, equivalent to €33,600 over 24 months. Under the European Commission’s Erasmus Mundus funding rules, the monthly allowance contributes to travel, visa costs, settling in and day-to-day living. Budget those expenses from the allowance.

03Which bachelor’s degrees qualify for TCCM?
A recognised bachelor’s in chemistry, physics or materials science is the direct academic route. Final-year applicants can apply if they complete the degree before 1 September 2027. TCCM also accepts other science degrees if your coursework meets the required standard.
For a related degree, compare your transcript with the required coursework in chemical bonding, atomic and molecular structure and intermolecular interactions, general physics, mathematics, general physical chemistry, thermodynamics and kinetics, and spectroscopy. The consortium may assign levelling courses for minor gaps. A shortfall in more than two required areas makes you ineligible for admission.
TCCM accepts IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 4.5 on the newer scale (90 on the previous scale), Cambridge B2 First and other internationally recognised certificates. If you completed your degree in English, upload confirmation from your university in place of a test certificate.
04How do you apply for the TCCM scholarship?
Submit one free online application to the TCCM consortium for Erasmus Mundus scholarship consideration.
- Review the call and choose a preferred host. Read the TCCM eligibility and selection rules, then compare the first-year modules and consortium mobility rules.
- Register in the EMTCCM application portal. Use an email address you can keep for at least two years.
- Upload your documents. Prepare your degree certificate if already awarded, transcript or diploma supplement, Europass CV, motivation letter, passport or EU national ID, residence evidence, photograph and English proof. If you’re still in your final year, prepare your latest transcript and follow the portal’s instructions for the pending degree. - Invite two referees through the portal. I’d ask lecturers who can describe specific work you did, such as a simulation project or a physical chemistry assignment. Give them time to submit their references.
- Submit and watch for follow-up. The official 2027 call poster confirms the closing date. After the call closes, the International Pedagogical Committee ranks applications, interviews its highest-ranked candidates and makes the final selection.

05What can hold up your TCCM application?
Applying with a degree outside the three named fields? Give reviewers enough evidence to match your courses to the prerequisites. If your transcript uses broad titles, prepare short course descriptions for any supporting-document field the portal provides.
Portal entries failing to save? TCCM flags apostrophes and similar special characters as a common cause. Review the affected fields and verify that the form saved before submitting.

Can I apply if I previously held an Erasmus Mundus scholarship?
If you already received an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship, you are ineligible for a second one. TCCM also has a self-funded admission route.
Can a university receipt prove my residence?
Yes. TCCM lists a university tuition receipt or an invoice as examples. Use a document that shows your name and current address.
Do I need sworn translations for the online application?
The portal terms call for English translations at the application stage. Certified copies are required at final registration, and the consortium may request a sworn Spanish or French translation at that stage.
