What Does Full Tuition Leave You to Pay?
You must finance your own life in Sweden, even if your tuition is covered. Budget for housing, food, travel and residence-permit funds. Uppsala advises against depending on part-time work. Scholarship selection considers academic merit and your motivation, not financial need.

What Should You Prepare Before October?
Check your degree’s entry rules before drafting a scholarship statement. A master’s normally requires a recognised bachelor’s degree equivalent to 180 ECTS credits, relevant subjects and English evidence. Final-year students may be considered conditionally with an official transcript and confirmation of expected graduation; they need the completed degree before enrolment. Bachelor’s applicants need qualifying upper-secondary education and their programme’s subject and English requirements.
Most master’s programmes require English level 2/English 6. Uppsala’s published test minimums include IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT 90 overall with at least 20 in writing. Cambridge CAE/CPE and some previous studies can qualify; the Master’s Programme in English requires a higher level. An English-medium degree letter is not a universal waiver.

- Choose an eligible programme for autumn 2027 and put that Uppsala University programme in first place among your choices.
- Apply through University Admissions in Sweden by 15 January 2027. Save the eight-digit application number the portal gives you.
- Complete admission formalities: pay SEK 900 if fee-liable and submit the required documents by the deadline, following any programme instruction to send material directly to Uppsala.
- When Uppsala opens its scholarship form in early 2027, enter your details and eight-digit number, select every award for which you qualify and write a focused motivation of no more than 350 words. The scholarship form is free and requires no document uploads.
- Track both decisions and keep a realistic living-cost plan. An admission offer alone does not guarantee a tuition scholarship.
