01 Does the scholarship fund the whole master’s?

Yeungnam University’s PSPS General Scholarship covers tuition for four semesters, but the living allowance lasts only 12 months. PSPS states that all admitted students receive its General Scholarship package, including the admission-fee waiver. The allowance runs from March 2027 to February 2028; students must cover living costs for the remaining semesters.

Build your budget around that distinction. Health insurance and other additional charges remain separate, and the published package does not list airfare or free accommodation. Dormitory assistance also does not mean free housing.

You must maintain your academic performance: falling below a GPA of 3.0/4.5 or receiving an F in any course means paying 30% of the following semester’s tuition. Scholarship terms and amounts are subject to change.

02 Which PSPS major fits your plans?

Three majors are available under PSPS scholarship at Yeungnam University, with different degree options under each. Choose one degree from the options offered by your selected major.

Major Available degrees Consider it if your goal involves
Saemaul and International Development Master of Saemaul Development Studies; MA in Saemaul International Development; Master of Public Policy and Saemaul Community development and international development programmes.
Public Policy and Leadership MA in Development Economics; Master of Public Policy; Master of Public Policy in Economic Development Government, policy analysis and economic development.
Forest and Environmental Policy Master of Public Policy; Master of Public Administration; Master of Science Forestry, environmental governance and sustainable development.

Your previous major does not automatically exclude you. PSPS welcomes varied undergraduate backgrounds, although its Sustainable Development department prefers relevant fields such as agriculture, forestry and environmental engineering. Applicants from other disciplines can also be considered, especially with substantial sustainability experience.

03 Can you apply—and can you Replace IELTS?

You need a recognized bachelor’s degree equivalent to a four-year Korean degree, and acceptable English proficiency. Check these entry conditions before applying for Yeungnam University’s PSPS General Scholarship:

  • You and your parents must not hold Korean nationality.
  • You must have completed 12 years of school education, or its equivalent, before university.
  • You must meet the bachelor’s-degree equivalency requirement and be in suitable health to complete the programme.

If your degree is three years long, ask PSPS to assess its equivalency before paying; the rule is equivalence to a Korean four-year degree.

IELTS is one option, rather than the only option. Accepted minimums include IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 4 on the new scale or 71 on the previous scale, TOEIC 750, or CEFR B2. Test results must be dated no earlier than 30 October 2024.

Applicants who completed their undergraduate degree in English may submit an official university statement instead. Applicants from countries where English is the official or native language are exempt from submitting an English test report. Use the applicable evidence route; do not assume a personal declaration is sufficient.

04 How do you complete the PSPS application at Yeungnam University?

Apply online, pay the application fee, then email your documents in the required order. This is the PSPS admission route, with its General Scholarship attached to admission.

  1. Open the correct application. Visit the official PSPS website, select “Admissions”, then “Apply Here (International students)”. Choose your major and degree.
  2. Complete and print the forms. Prepare the application form, personal statement, statement of academic purpose, academic-record verification agreement, health self-assessment and pledge. Sign the designated fields before scanning.
  3. Collect supporting evidence. Prepare your degree or expected-graduation certificate, transcripts with grading information, English evidence, recommendation letter(s), parents’ nationality documents, family relationship or birth certificate, passport copy and payment receipt. One recommendation is acceptable. Check the official document checklist for authentication, translation and country-specific requirements.
  4. Pay and keep proof. The application fee is KRW 100,000 or US$80, non-refundable, with bank charges paid by you. Use the university’s current payment instructions. The admission-fee waiver applies after admission.
  5. Email the complete documents. Arrange scanned PDFs in checklist order, numbers 1–9, and send them to [email protected]. Use the subject: [Application No.] Applicant’s Name – Spring 2027 Application Documents. Look for the confirmation email.
  6. Follow the screening instructions. PSPS requests a self-made interview video and may arrange a Zoom or phone interview. Original documents may be requested. Check your application account and email for admission, scholarship and subsequent visa instructions.

Start academic-document authentication early: degree certificates and transcripts generally require an apostille or consular authentication, with separate instructions for Chinese qualifications. Documents outside English or Korean require notarised translations; expected graduates must provide final academic records according to PSPS guidance.

For your academic-purpose statement, connect a real development problem to your chosen major and your future work. Our scholarship SOP writing guide can help you organize ideas; follow the PSPS form’s instructions when writing.

The official PSPS admission schedule governs the two submission stages below.
