10 Huaqiao University CSC Scholarships 2027 (MS/PhD) Application Method
Huaqiao University will recommend only 10 candidates for its 2027 Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Programme, and its first admission round is open. For international master’s and PhD applicants heading to China, the decisive first step is winning university admission consideration before competing for a scholarship nomination.
The opportunity covers full-time autumn-entry graduate study across Huaqiao’s published subject list disclosed in this article below, from international relations and economics to computing, materials and engineering. But which language evidence counts, and when should you submit the CSC’s China Scholarship Council’s application?
This guide follows Huaqiao’s actual sequence, explains the documents that take time and separates a nomination from a final scholarship award.
First admission round open for autumn 2027.
Non-Chinese citizens seeking full-time master’s or doctoral study.
10 university recommendations; CSC makes the final award decision.

01 Which Huaqiao programmes fit this scholarship?
You need a full-time master’s or doctoral programme from Huaqiao’s 2027 international graduate catalogue. The catalogue also contains other study formats, so choose the full-time section relevant to this call.
Master’s choices include applied economics, finance, international relations, law, journalism, mathematics, biology, pharmacy, mechanical engineering, materials, computing and architecture. Doctoral options include philosophy, applied economics, foreign languages and literature, mathematics, mechanical engineering, materials science, architecture, civil engineering, chemical engineering and business administration. Programme and campus are linked: the catalogue identifies Quanzhou or Xiamen for each entry.
I would choose the department before drafting the study plan. A clear connection between your previous training and the exact Huaqiao programme gives the academic reviewers something concrete to assess.
02 Does your degree and Chinese qualify you?
The route is open to academically strong non-Chinese citizens who meet Huaqiao’s degree, age, health and conduct requirements. The official Huaqiao scholarship notice sets the following thresholds.
| Applying for | Academic and age requirement |
|---|---|
| Master’s | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; no older than 35. |
| PhD | Master’s degree or equivalent; no older than 40. |
Chinese proficiency must reach HSK Level 4 with at least 180 points. Applicants who earned a degree at a Chinese university through Chinese-medium instruction may instead provide the university’s teaching-language certificate. An English-medium degree elsewhere is not the waiver described in this call.
This is a CSC funding competition, but Huaqiao’s notice does not publish a benefit schedule or stipend amount. It also does not specify an application fee. Those omissions cannot support a “no fee” claim or a university-specific funding promise; obtain the applicable financial terms from Graduate Admissions before making commitments.
03 What should you prepare before the admission review?
Huaqiao requires a study plan of more than 1,000 words or characters in Chinese or English, alongside evidence of your qualifications. Use the university’s attached templates where provided, and number the files in the order specified by its checklist.
- Passport information page, with validity beyond 1 September 2027, and a recent one-inch colour photograph taken within six months.
- Notarized highest qualification and transcripts from undergraduate study onward. Mainland Chinese qualifications need the specified CHSI verification; overseas qualifications require CSCSE authentication, Chinese embassy or consulate authentication, or legally equivalent evidence. Final-year students may submit expected-graduation or enrolment evidence.
- HSK score report, or the qualifying Chinese-medium certificate; a Chinese- or English-language study plan; and two recommendations from professors or associate professors.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English, retaining the original. Examinations remain valid for six months and need the required photograph, signatures and hospital stamps.
- Valid police clearance, normally issued within six months before submission, and the Chinese Government Scholarship application form at the scholarship stage.
Chinese and English academic records are accepted; other-language documents need the prescribed notarized translation. Our study-plan preparation guide can help you connect academic background, proposed work and programme fit, but Huaqiao’s own length and document rules take priority.
04 How do you move from admission to CSC nomination?
Apply to Huaqiao first, then complete the scholarship submission when the university selects you for recommendation. Its process is more specific than simply filling two portals in any order.
- Submit the university application. Register in Huaqiao’s graduate application system, choose the programme and upload the required admission materials during one of the two rounds.
- Complete the college’s academic review. Applicants who pass qualification screening proceed to academic assessment. Passing this stage gives preliminary admission eligibility and access to the scholarship competition.
- Wait for the scholarship ranking. Huaqiao selects 10 recommended candidates and issues their pre-admission notices. Preliminary admission alone does not establish that you are among those 10.
- Submit the CSC application with the notice. Use Campus China, select Type B and agency number 10385, and complete the required scholarship records. Follow the university’s instruction for supplying the generated CSC form.
- Follow the final decision. Huaqiao forwards its nominees to CSC. The university publishes scholarship results after CSC completes its expert review.
My recommendation is to begin qualification authentication and referee requests early. They depend on other organizations, while you can continue improving the study plan yourself.
05 Which mistakes can end the Huaqiao application?
Do not reverse the sequence or treat nomination as an award. Huaqiao explicitly states that failing to follow its procedure makes the application unsuccessful. Use its pre-admission and nomination instructions rather than assuming a generic CSC workflow. Illegible or missing files also put the submission at risk.
Huaqiao prohibits holding the CSC award alongside other Chinese government or university scholarships, apart from permitted one-off awards. Concealment can trigger cancellation, repayment and a three-year application ban.
06 Huaqiao questions applicants still need answered
Is this only for applicants of Chinese ancestry?
No. The scholarship notice requires non-Chinese citizenship and does not impose a Chinese-ancestry condition. The graduate portal’s broader name does not change that eligibility rule.
Must I already have a professor’s acceptance letter?
The scholarship checklist does not list a supervisor acceptance letter as a compulsory upload. The college’s academic review remains essential; an informal academic reply cannot replace it.
Is the CSC form needed before Huaqiao selects nominees?
The notice lists the CSC form among materials but directs applicants to complete CSC submission after receiving a nomination-stage pre-admission notice. Follow that sequence; if the initial portal blocks submission over this field, contact [email protected] for handling instructions.
07 Huaqiao’s two admission rounds and next decisions
The last date for the first Huaqiao University CSC scholarship admission round is 6 December 2026; the second closes on 5 March 2027. The first application period runs from 15 October to 6 December 2026, and the second from 1 February to 5 March 2027.
Academic reviews are scheduled for late December 2026 and early March 2027 respectively. The call does not publish a separate final CSC-submission cutoff; nominated applicants must follow Huaqiao’s subsequent instructions. Study starts in autumn 2027.
Choose the full-time programme, identify your slowest authentication document and build a study plan that makes the academic case for that choice. Those are the three tasks that move you toward admission review now.
