Eligible Field of Study
The scholarships are tenable exclusively for the PhD in Biostatistics program offered by Moi University’s Department of Mathematics, Physics & Computing.
Duration and Commencement
- Duration: Up to three (3) years of full-time study.
- Start Date: September 2026 (2026/2027 academic year).
- The scholarship will initially be awarded for one year, with renewal possible each year based on satisfactory academic progress and submission of the DAAD Renewal Application Form via the DAAD portal.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, or Mathematical Sciences (with a major in Statistics).
- The Master’s degree must have been obtained no more than six years ago.
- Satisfy Moi University’s admission requirements for the PhD in Biostatistics program.
- Submit a well-developed research proposal clearly articulating the relevance of the proposed research to regional or national development priorities.
- Applicants from female, marginalized, disadvantaged groups, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply in line with Moi University’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity.
Admission Requirement
To be eligible for the scholarship award, applicants must secure proof of admission into Moi University’s PhD in Biostatistics program. Separate applications are therefore required for both:
- Scholarship application (to MU-DAAD)
- University admission application (to Moi University)
