Loughborough University GREAT Scholarships 2026 Open for New Applicants

Two scholarships. Two countries. One of Britain’s highest-ranked universities. If you hold a Kenyan or Turkish passport and have been eyeing a Master’s degree in the UK, the Loughborough University GREAT Scholarships 2026 just put a serious dent in your tuition bill. In partnership with the British Council, Loughborough is offering a 10,000-pound partial fee waiver to selected international postgraduate students enrolling in one-year taught Master’s programmes across both its Loughborough and London campuses.

The GREAT Scholarships campaign is a UK government-backed initiative designed to bring high-calibre international talent into British universities. Loughborough, consistently ranked among the UK’s top ten and globally recognized for engineering, sport science, design, and business, is one of the participating institutions for the 2026 cycle.

This is not a token gesture. Ten thousand pounds off your tuition fundamentally changes the arithmetic of studying abroad, and with only two awards available, competition will be sharp.

What the Money Actually Looks Like?

The financial structure of this scholarship is straightforward but significant.

  • Each recipient receives a 10,000-pound reduction applied directly as a partial tuition fee waiver, meaning the discount is taken off your invoice rather than paid to you in cash.
  • The scholarship covers any one-year taught Master’s programme offered at Loughborough University, whether you study at the main campus in the East Midlands or the London campus.
  • There are two scholarships available in total for the 2026 intake, one allocated for a Kenyan national and one for a Turkish national.
  • The award is a one-time reduction and does not cover accommodation, travel, or living expenses.

Who Gets to Apply?

This scholarship is tightly targeted, so check every box before you invest time in an application.

  • You must be a passport holder from Kenya or Turkey. No other nationalities are eligible for this particular award.
  • You need to have applied for and received either a conditional or unconditional offer for a one-year taught Master’s programme at Loughborough University.
  • You must be classified as an international student for fee assessment purposes.
  • Your English language requirement must be fully met by the scholarship application deadline. Pending test results or outstanding conditions related to English proficiency will disqualify your application.
  • The scholarship applies to all taught Master’s programmes at both campuses, spanning disciplines from engineering and computer science to business, social sciences, sport, and design.

How to Apply Without the Headache

The application process runs parallel to your admission process, not separately from it. First, you apply for your chosen Master’s programme at Loughborough University through the standard admissions route. Once you receive your conditional or unconditional offer letter, you become eligible to submit a scholarship application. Head to the dedicated GREAT Scholarships page on Loughborough’s website at https://www.lboro.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/fees-funding/masters-funding/great-scholarships/ to access the scholarship application form.

Fill it out, make sure your English language requirement is already satisfied, and submit everything before the deadline. There is no separate interview stage listed, but given that only two awards exist, expect the selection committee to scrutinize your academic profile, personal statement, and fit with the programme closely.

Can You Apply Now?

The deadline to submit your GREAT Scholarship application at Loughborough University is 6 May 2026.
