Illinois Wesleyan University Scholarships 2026: Merit and Presidential Awards Now Open for International Students

For the incoming class of 2026, IWU is inviting academically driven students to submit their applications through either the IWU Application or the Common Application, with no preference given to either platform. Every completed application is reviewed individually, meaning your story, your grades, and your potential matter far more than any checkbox.
What the Money Actually Looks Like?
The financial package behind IWU’s scholarship program is structured to make four years of American higher education genuinely affordable for international students:
- The Presidential Scholarship covers full tuition, reserved for the most accomplished candidates in the applicant pool.
- Merit Scholarships range from $16,000 to $30,000 per year, calibrated to academic strength and profile.
- Most awards are renewable for up to four years, giving recipients stable funding across their entire undergraduate degree.
- The combination of zero application fees, optional test scores, and generous aid makes IWU accessible to high-performing students regardless of their financial background.
Who Actually Qualifies to Apply?
IWU keeps its eligibility criteria straightforward, but the academic bar is real. International students from all countries are welcome to apply, provided they meet the following requirements:
- A recommended minimum of 15 academic units across English, foreign language, mathematics, laboratory science, and social science.
- A cumulative grade-point average of B or higher.
- Transcripts covering all previous high school or college coursework.
- An essay submitted as part of the application.
- Non-native English speakers must meet English proficiency requirements through one of the accepted pathways: an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of 80 or above (MyBest scores accepted), a Duolingo English Test score of 115 or higher, or a PTE score of at least 56. IWU also accepts GTEC scores. Alternatively, proficiency is satisfied if English is the applicant’s first language or if they have completed at least three years of secondary education where English was the primary language of instruction. All test scores must be less than two years old.
- BFA applicants in art programs must submit a portfolio alongside their application.
- Students may optionally submit SAT or ACT scores using IWU’s College Board code 1320 or ACT code 1044.

The Clock Is Ticking: Key Dates You Cannot Afford to Miss!
IWU operates on two admission timelines for Fall 2026. Early Action applicants who submitted all materials by November 15, 2026 received decisions between November 15 and December 15, 2026, with admitted students still having until May 1, 2027 to confirm enrollment. Some Early Action applicants may be deferred to Regular Decision for updated evaluation.
Regular Decision applications, meanwhile, remain open on a rolling basis, with decisions mailed after December 15, 2026. Since IWU reviews applications as they arrive and scholarship funds are competitive, submitting your completed application as early as possible significantly improves your chances of landing the strongest financial award available.
