China Agricultural University Silk Road Scholarships 2026 Opens With Tuition Coverage and Monthly Stipend

China Agricultural University has officially opened applications for its 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship “Silk Road” Program, a targeted funding scheme designed for students from selected Belt and Road countries seeking master’s and PhD education in agricultural sciences, plant protection, and environmental sciences in China. The application window is relatively short, and the scholarship is expected to attract strong competition because it combines government-backed funding with admission to one of China’s leading agricultural universities.

The China Agricultural University Silk Road Scholarship 2026 is a Chinese Government Scholarship Type B program for international students from selected Belt and Road countries. It supports master’s and doctoral studies in agriculture-related fields and covers tuition fees, accommodation, living allowance, and medical insurance. Applicants from countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, and Zambia are eligible to apply before May 25, 2026.

The latest China Agricultural University admission cycle matters particularly for students looking for funded postgraduate degrees connected to food security, sustainable agriculture, plant sciences, and ecological health. China has increasingly expanded Silk Road scholarship pathways in recent years as part of its international education and research collaboration strategy, and this CAU scholarship reflects that wider policy direction.

Unlike many partially funded programs in Asia, the China Agricultural University Silk Road Program provides a practical financial package for international students. Selected candidates will receive full tuition support, on-campus accommodation in shared rooms, monthly living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance coverage. However, applicants should note that international airfare and travel costs are not included under the scholarship benefits.

The 2026 Silk Road Scholarship at China Agricultural University is currently open for master’s and PhD applicants in highly specialized academic areas. Available majors include Agricultural Entomology and Pest Control, Plant Pathology, Plant Quarantine and Agricultural Ecological Health, Plant Nutrition, and Resource & Environmental Science and Plant Protection. Several programs are available in English, making the opportunity more accessible to students who do not speak Chinese.

This scholarship is specifically limited to applicants from selected countries including Malawi, Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, and Nepal. Candidates applying for master’s programs must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35 at the time of application. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate a strong academic background relevant to their intended field of study.

English language proficiency remains an important requirement for the China Agricultural University Scholarship 2026 intake. Applicants can qualify through IELTS, TOEFL, or proof that their previous degree was taught in English. The university expects at least IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 90-level proficiency standards. Interestingly, Chinese language scores are not required during admission for English-taught programs, although students must eventually achieve HSK Level 3 before graduation. The university will provide Chinese language training during the study period.

From a competitiveness perspective, this scholarship may particularly favor applicants with prior research exposure, published academic work, patents, or agriculture-related professional experience. The requirement for a 1000-word study plan and two academic recommendation letters also indicates that the university is looking for academically serious candidates rather than applicants applying broadly without research direction.

The application process involves two separate online systems. Students must first apply through the China Agricultural University portal and then complete a Chinese Government Scholarship Type B application through the CSC online system using institution code 10019. Applicants should also prepare notarized academic documents, medical examination forms, police clearance certificates, and proof of language proficiency before beginning the submission process.

The last date to apply for the China Agricultural University Silk Road Scholarship 2026 is May 25, 2026.
