The IMPACT Scholarship 2027 at University College London Open
Students and professionals who have experienced social, economic, or personal inequality and want to build a career improving public health now have a significant funding opportunity to consider. The IMPACT Scholarship 2027 at University College London is officially open, offering up to £20,500 in financial support for applicants admitted to the university’s Online Master of Public Health (MPH) programme.
Unlike many merit-based awards that focus primarily on academic achievements, the IMPACT Scholarship is specifically designed to support individuals whose lived experiences of inequality have shaped their ambitions and commitment to improving population health outcomes. UCL will award up to two scholarships for the 2026/27 intake.
What Does the IMPACT Scholarship Cover?
The scholarship provides funding worth up to £20,500 per recipient. Successful applicants can use the award toward tuition fees for the UCL Online Master of Public Health programme. The scholarship is available for:
- Full-time students
- Part-time students
- Modular-flexible learners
For part-time and modular-flexible study options, the scholarship amount will be applied on a pro-rata basis toward tuition fees.
Who Can Apply?
The IMPACT Scholarship is open to both domestic and international applicants. To be eligible, candidates must satisfy all of the following requirements:
- Have lived experience of inequality
- Meet the admission requirements for the UCL Online Master of Public Health (MPH)
- Submit an admission application for the MPH programme beginning in the 2026/27 academic year
UCL recognizes a broad range of experiences related to inequality, including but not limited to:
- Financial disadvantage
- Ethnic discrimination
- Gender-related inequality
- Sexual orientation-related barriers
- Caring responsibilities
- Adverse childhood experiences
- Social exclusion
- Disability-related challenges
Why This Scholarship Stands Out?
The IMPACT Scholarship reflects a core principle of the UCL MPH programme: reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for disadvantaged populations. Rather than focusing solely on grades or professional achievements, the scholarship seeks applicants who can demonstrate how their personal experiences have inspired them to create meaningful change in public health.
This makes the award particularly attractive for aspiring public health professionals, community advocates, healthcare workers, policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners who want to transform personal challenges into wider social impact.
How Recipients Will Be Selected?
Applications will be assessed through an online scholarship application and personal statement. Reviewers will evaluate:
- How the applicant’s experiences of inequality have influenced their motivation to study Public Health
- Why scholarship support is important for their educational journey
- How they plan to use the MPH qualification to improve population health outcomes in their future career
Each application will be independently reviewed and scored by two assessors. The highest-ranked candidates based on combined scores will receive the scholarship awards.
Application Deadline
The last date to apply for the IMPACT Scholarship offered by University College London is 30 June 2026 (11:59 PM BST). Applicants selected for the scholarship are expected to receive notification of results in early August 2026.
