Prepare for PolyU Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship 2027 for Undergrad Admissions in Hongkong

Students targeting Hong Kong Polytechnic University for 2027 should put the Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship on their preparation calendar—but with one major eligibility warning.

Based on PolyU’s latest 2026/27 call, the scholarship provides up to HK$300,000 per student, covering full undergraduate tuition plus approved overseas development opportunities. However, it is currently reserved for local students taking HKDSE and applying through JUPAS, meaning most international applicants using overseas school qualifications are not eligible.

PolyU has not yet announced the 2027/28 application deadline, so students should use the latest rules as a preparation benchmark rather than treating the next round as officially open.

Why HK$300,000 Is More Than a Tuition Scholarship?

The award is designed to fund both the degree and international exposure.

Successful scholars can receive full tuition coverage for the four-year undergraduate programme, subject to annual renewal conditions, together with sponsorship for approved opportunities such as the Copenhagen Business School Dual Degree Programme, overseas exchanges and summer schools at leading universities.

Students must maintain full-time status, remain free of disciplinary records and normally maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA each academic year to continue receiving the award.

Who Should Actually Prepare for the 2027 Round?

Under the latest rules, the ideal candidate is a Secondary Six student taking HKDSE and applying through JUPAS.

Applicants need to:

  • Meet PolyU’s general undergraduate entrance requirements.
  • Apply for and gain admission to JS3070.
  • Achieve an aggregate HKDSE Best 5 score of at least 25.
  • Submit the separate scholarship application.
  • Potentially attend an interview if shortlisted.

A score of 25 should be viewed as the eligibility floor rather than a guaranteed winning score, because only up to 25 scholarships are available.

International Students Should Not Confuse Programme Admission With Scholarship Eligibility

This distinction is particularly important for readers outside Hong Kong.

PolyU does separately accept international and non-JUPAS applicants into the same BBA scheme, but the Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship is explicitly described as being for JUPAS applicants/local HKDSE students.

So an applicant from Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia or another country applying with A Levels, IB or a national high-school qualification should not currently assume this HK$300,000 award is available to them.

International applicants can still investigate PolyU’s other entrance scholarships and funding routes.

How to Prepare Before the 2027 Call Appears?

Students who fit the HKDSE/JUPAS route can start now:

  • Target a Best 5 HKDSE score above 25, rather than merely meeting the threshold.
  • Plan to select JS3070 through JUPAS.
  • Keep strong Secondary Six academic records.
  • Prepare evidence of leadership, extracurricular participation and international interests ahead of a possible interview.
  • Watch the PolyU LMS scholarship page for the 2027/28 call.
  • Submit the scholarship form separately once the new application window opens.

The latest round closed on July 10, 2026 at 23:59 Hong Kong time, but PolyU has not yet confirmed whether the 2027 cycle will use the same date of next year in July 2027.

If you are planning to apply to PolyU in 2027, leave your country, qualification—HKDSE, A Levels, IB or another system—and intended degree in the comments below. We can help determine whether you should prepare for this scholarship or look at PolyU funding available specifically to international applicants.
