Northeast Normal University (NENU) CSC Scholarship 2027 (MS, PhD) All Subjects Open
Northeast Normal University’s Chinese Government Scholarship High-level Graduates Program (Type B), 2027–2028, is open for international master’s and doctoral applicants in China. It combines tuition and campus accommodation waivers with medical insurance and a monthly living allowance, supporting study across education, sciences, humanities and other listed fields.
The practical challenge is preparing the right research evidence and completing both online applications. Do you need a supervisor before applying, and does a university nomination mean you have won? This guide explains those distinctions and the submission sequence for NENU in Changchun.
01 Which NENU degree and funding route fits you?
This call funds postgraduate degrees, with academic and age conditions that differ by level. NENU requires strong academic records, good conduct and good physical and mental health, alongside compliance with Chinese law and university rules.
| Degree route | Qualification and age stated by NENU | Monthly allowance / study length |
|---|---|---|
| Master’s | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; aged 35 or younger. | RMB 3,000; normally three years, with a two-year International Chinese Language Education option in the catalogue. |
| Doctoral | Master’s degree or equivalent; aged 40 or younger. | RMB 3,500; four-year programmes listed. |
The 2027 NENU programme catalogue identifies degree level, teaching language, campus and scholarship availability. Choose an entry marked in column H for this High-level Graduates call. English options include selected education and psychology programmes, World History, sciences, geography and environmental subjects; politics, law, business, literature, media and arts provide further choices with programme-specific languages.
Tuition and on-campus accommodation are waived, and comprehensive medical insurance is included. Flights and family expenses are not listed benefits. Support continues subject to annual scholarship review, and major or study-duration changes are generally restricted.
02 Can you apply to NENU without IELTS or HSK?
Yes, if you meet a stated exemption; otherwise the relevant language result is required. Your programme’s teaching language determines which route applies.
- Chinese-taught programmes: HSK Level 5 with at least 180 points. A degree obtained at a Chinese university through Chinese-medium instruction provides an exemption.
- English-taught programmes: TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0, or English as your native/official language, or a degree completed through English-medium instruction. Prepare documentary evidence of the route you claim.
The official NENU 2027–2028 call gives these alternatives. Its upload checklist expressly mentions English-medium-degree evidence, but gives no detailed document format for native/official-language applicants; resolve that point with [email protected] before submitting an otherwise empty language field.
03 What must your research proposal and document file contain?
A supervisor’s conditional acceptance letter is optional, but doctoral applicants must obtain a prospective NENU supervisor’s signature on their research proposal. Those are separate requirements. I would prioritise supervisor contact early for a PhD so the mandatory signature does not delay submission.
NENU’s 2027 checklist requires the following materials; use its official download templates where provided.
- Identity and academic record: CSC application form; passport information and any Chinese visa pages, with passport validity beyond September 2027; notarised degree certificates and stamped transcripts from undergraduate level onward. Provide notarised Chinese/English translations for other languages.
- Research and recommendations: Proposal of at least 1,000 English words or 1,000 Chinese characters, with the doctoral signature where required; two signed letters in Chinese or English from professors/associate professors, including positions and contact details.
- Language, health and police evidence: Applicable language proof; completed English Foreigner Physical Examination Form with all examinations, photograph, seals and physician signature; non-criminal certificate normally issued within six months before submission. Medical results remain valid for six months.
- Conditional materials: Expected-graduation certificate if still studying; obtain the required degree before September 2027. Add an arts/design portfolio where applicable, achievements if any, an optional supervisor letter, and any further documents NENU requests.
Our China scholarship study-plan guide can help connect your background, research question and timetable. NENU’s length, template and signature rules take precedence. Bring original application documents for registration.
04 How do you complete both NENU CSC applications?
Submit the CSC application first, then complete NENU’s own application. A file in only one system does not complete the university’s stated process.
- Register with CSC. Enter the scholarship system through Campus China. Select Type B and agency number 10200, confirm Northeast Normal University, complete the file, submit and download your CSC application form.
- Observe CSC’s system rules. The CSC-authored applicant instructions permit one Type B application per academic year. A withdrawn application must be resubmitted after editing to be processed.
- Submit to NENU. Complete the NENU International Student Service System; the call also lists its alternative portal address. These are NENU entry points, not two additional university applications. Review carefully: NENU says submitted information cannot be edited.
- Respond to assessment. Monitor your email for supplementary-document requests and an online interview invitation. NENU assesses academic background, language and professional competence.
- Complete the nomination stage. If nominated, upload NENU’s pre-admission notice and requested documents to CSC within the period specified by email. CSC then makes the final scholarship selection.
My recommendation is to compare your programme, passport details and research proposal across both files before final submission. Keep a copy of each submitted application, then monitor messages from [email protected].
05 What can disqualify a NENU CSC application?
Apply directly and complete the later CSC upload. NENU explicitly disqualifies agency-submitted applications and nominated candidates who miss the emailed document-upload window. False documents cancel admission; concurrent Chinese government/university scholarship funding is prohibited except one-time awards. Concealment can also trigger repayment and a three-year CSC application ban.
06 Final questions before you submit to NENU
Does a NENU pre-admission notice guarantee CSC funding?
No. It records the university’s preliminary nomination stage. CSC still evaluates nominated candidates and makes the final award decision, so wait for the final outcome before treating funding as secured.
Can scholarship recipients bring their family?
Only with NENU’s approval. The call prohibits bringing family members without permission and lists no dependant allowance; obtain approval and establish the family budget before planning a joint move.
Is the application confirmed to be free?
The call does not state an application fee. That does not establish a fee waiver; if the university portal requests payment, seek clarification from NENU’s International Students Office before proceeding.
07 What is the NENU CSC deadline for 2027–2028?
The last date to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship High-level Graduates Program (Type B), 2027–2028, at Northeast Normal University is 28 February 2027, Beijing time (UTC+8). Applications opened with publication of the notice on 26 October 2026. No closing-hour time is specified.
NENU plans to complete preliminary review and send nomination notices by mid-March 2027. Final admission results are due by email before July 2027, with registration in late August or early September on the admission-notice date. The post-nomination CSC upload deadline is individual: follow the university email. Late arrival requires prior approval to retain the scholarship.
