Zhengzhou University CSC Scholarship 2027: Prepare for Studying in China for FREE

The Chinese Government Scholarship at Zhengzhou University offers international students a route to funded master’s and PhD study in China. If you are planning for 2027, you can already begin the most important preparation: choosing a suitable programme, developing your academic case to obtain acceptance letter from faculty members of Zhengzhou University and making required documents ready.

Administered by the China Scholarship Council, the award is commonly called the CSC scholarship. Its standard full-scholarship package combines tuition support, accommodation, medical insurance and a monthly stipend—support that can make postgraduate study more affordable while you develop specialist knowledge or pursue a research question.

The practical challenge is connecting three decisions: which Zhengzhou University programme fits your background, which professor can support your proposed work, and which CSC application route you will use. This guide walks you through those decisions, including the acceptance letter drill that should begin before deadline pressure takes over.

Should you prepare a Zhengzhou CSC application?
Application status2027 dates unconfirmed; prepare now using the established process.
Applicants and levelsEligible non-Chinese applicants worldwide; this guide covers master’s and PhD routes.
Standard CSC stipendCNY 3,000 monthly for master’s students; CNY 3,500 for doctoral students.
Language and feesProgramme-specific language evidence is required. A 2027 IELTS waiver or university application fee has not been confirmed.
VerificationChecked 5 November 2026. Accessible ZZU portal notices concern earlier cycles; use the eventual 2027 call for final requirements.

01 — What does the Zhengzhou CSC scholarship cover?

ZZU identifies CSC as a full scholarship for master’s and PhD applicants. The standard CSC package includes tuition, a university dormitory or accommodation subsidy, the degree-level monthly stipend and comprehensive medical insurance.

Accommodation support follows the applicable housing arrangements; do not assume that every recipient receives both a free room and a separate housing payment. Your eventual award documents determine the approved duration and benefits.

My recommendation is to keep a separate arrival budget for travel, documents and initial personal expenses. Treat an expense as covered only when the scholarship terms expressly include it.

02 — Who can prepare for master’s or PhD admission?

Your qualification, age and programme fit must satisfy both CSC and Zhengzhou University requirements. The standard CSC postgraduate benchmarks are:

  • Master’s: An academically strong bachelor’s degree holder or equivalent, under 35.
  • PhD: An academically strong master’s degree holder or equivalent, under 40.
  • General conditions: Non-Chinese citizenship, suitable physical and mental health, and compliance with admission and conduct requirements.

Start with the exact degree title rather than a broad interest such as “engineering” or “business.” Match your previous courses, thesis and methods to the department’s work. Scholarship availability does not establish that every university programme is eligible or available in English.

Language requirements also belong to the chosen programme. Prepare for the relevant HSK, IELTS or TOEFL requirement rather than assuming that a previous English-medium degree automatically grants an exemption. The confirmed 2027 programme instructions must settle any waiver.

03 — How do you complete the supervisor acceptance letter drill?

Approach a suitable ZZU supervisor before submitting your application. The university’s latest accessible graduate notice puts supervisor acceptance first and lists the acceptance letter among the required materials for its master’s and doctoral admissions process.

  1. Find a research match. Shortlist three to five relevant academics from official school profiles. Read recent papers and record the specific connection with your training.
  2. Prepare your evidence. Assemble a concise academic CV, transcripts and a one-page research concept. Include your strongest project, thesis or publication where relevant.
  3. Write an individual email. Introduce your degree, explain one concrete research connection and ask whether the professor is considering international postgraduate students for 2027.
  4. Develop the academic discussion. Be ready to explain your previous contribution, proposed question, methods and reasons for choosing that group.
  5. Request the correct document. After the professor expresses interest, ask about the university’s acceptance letter or prescribed form and any school endorsement needed.

Suggested email subject: Prospective 2027 master’s/PhD applicant — [research area] — [your name]. Keep the message focused: what you have studied, what connects you to the professor’s work, and what you would like to investigate.

If there is no response, I would send one polite follow-up after roughly a week, then continue with another suitable academic. This is an outreach recommendation, not a university rule. Our China scholarship acceptance letter guide explains how to develop the research connection.

A supervisor’s willingness to support you is valuable, but it is not a final university admission or CSC award. Keep those stages separate when planning your next move.

04 — Which application documents should you prepare?

Prepare the academic documents now, then obtain time-sensitive records around the confirmed window. Earlier ZZU checklists provide the following working preparation list.

Document Preparation task
Degrees and transcripts Master’s applicants: undergraduate records. PhD applicants: undergraduate and postgraduate records. Current students should obtain an expected-graduation letter.
Personal statement and academic plan Develop a purposeful study plan for master’s admission or research proposal for doctoral admission; follow the eventual programme length and upload instructions.
Two recommendations Approach qualified academic referees early and give them evidence of your work.
Supervisor acceptance Obtain support from the prospective ZZU supervisor; it is separate from your referees’ recommendations.
Passport and language report Prepare clear scans and valid evidence meeting the programme’s requirements.
Medical and police records Plan around validity: CSC guidance uses six-month medical validity and a police certificate issued within six months before submission.

Documents outside Chinese or English need the required translations alongside the originals. Previous study or residence in China can also require additional residence and conduct evidence.

I recommend building your study plan around a clear progression: what you already know, what you need to learn, why ZZU fits, and what you intend to do with that training. For a PhD, make the research question and feasible methods explicit.

05 — How do you apply through CSC Type B or Type A?

Type B is the university route; Type A goes through your country’s authorised dispatching body. ZZU’s published instructions require applications in both its university system and the CSC system. Type A applicants must additionally satisfy their own dispatching authority’s rules.

  1. Identify the correct call and programme. Start with the supplied ZZU scholarship information page and the university portal’s dated notices. Use a confirmed 2027 call before treating dates or programme availability as final.
  2. Secure academic support. Find the relevant department through the official ZZU school directory and complete the supervisor discussion and acceptance process.
  3. Submit the university application. Complete the ZZU international student application for the correct degree, intake and scholarship. Upload the required documents and retain your application number.
  4. Submit the CSC application. Use the official CSC scholarship system. For the ZZU university route, select Type B and use the published agency number 10459. Type A applicants use their dispatching authority’s category and agency instructions instead.
  5. Check both submissions. Keep degree names, study language and personal details consistent. Follow any 2027 fee, interview or additional-document instructions, then monitor both systems and your email.

06 — Bonus: which other ZZU scholarships should you know?

ZZU also lists the President Scholarship for PhD applicants and the Henan Government Scholarship for master’s applicants. These are separate funding options, with their own conditions.

  • President Scholarship: Described in the university’s published notice as full doctoral funding. Earlier first-round instructions also require a CSC Type B application.
  • Henan Government Scholarship: Described as partial master’s funding. Consider the remaining personal budget before treating an offer as affordable.

These options can broaden your funding search, but neither establishes a confirmed 2027 opening or permission to combine awards.

07 — What can easily confuse Zhengzhou CSC applicants?

Is supervisor acceptance only relevant to PhD applicants?

No. ZZU’s accessible graduate notice includes supervisor acceptance in its combined master’s and PhD instructions. Master’s applicants should therefore prepare for it unless the new programme notice expressly provides a different procedure.

Can I use agency number 10459 for a Type A application?

Use 10459 for the ZZU Type B university route. A Type A application follows the agency number supplied by the relevant embassy or dispatching authority, even when ZZU is your preferred host.

Does “pre-admitted” mean my CSC funding is approved?

Do not interpret an intermediate status as final funding approval. Read the university’s formal admission and scholarship documents before making financial commitments.

08 — When is the Zhengzhou CSC Scholarship 2027 application window?

The opening date and last date to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship 2027 at Zhengzhou University could not be officially confirmed as of 5 November 2026. This is a preparation guide, rather than an announcement that applications are open.

For historical planning only, ZZU’s 2026 notice opened applications on 16 October 2025 and set the CSC Type B deadline at 28 February 2026, in Beijing time. These dates must not be relabelled as the 2027 schedule. Type A applicants also have country-specific dispatching deadlines.

Start with three moves: choose your exact master’s or doctoral programme, identify your slowest document or language test, and approach a genuinely suitable supervisor. That preparation gives you a stronger academic application when the confirmed window becomes available.
