Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) Talent Grant Scholarship 2024
As a scholarship mentor, I understand the intricacies and challenges international students face while planning your study abroad, especially when finances come into play. The Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) offers a helping hand through the Talent Grant, aimed at supporting gifted students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) for the class of 2024. So if you’re from a non-EEA country, excluding Switzerland and Suriname, and are dreaming of studying at AHK, this guide is crafted just for you.
What is the Talent Grant?
The Talent Grant is a financial initiative by AHK to make education more accessible to international students who demonstrate exceptional merit but need financial support. For the academic year 2024-2025, the grant provides a significant tuition fee reduction of €3,825. This discount bridges the gap between the higher institutional fees that you, as an international student, would pay and the lower, government-subsidized statutory tuition.
Who Qualifies for the Talent Grant?
Eligibility for the Talent Grant is specific and includes the following criteria:
- Nationality: You must be a national from a non-EEA country (excluding Suriname and Switzerland).
- Merit: Your application should showcase your exceptional academic or creative talents.
- Residency: You will need to live in the Netherlands throughout your studies at AHK.
- Tuition Status: You must be enrolled in a program where you’re required to pay institutional tuition fees, which are higher than the subsidized fees.
- Admission: If you’re not yet an AHK student, you must have successfully passed the entrance exam.
How Can You Apply?
Securing the Talent Grant involves a few careful steps:
- Get Assessed: Before anything, your talent and eligibility need to be assessed by the head of your study program. This is to ensure you meet the high standards of merit required.
- Application Form: If deemed eligible, you’ll receive an application form (https://www.ahk.nl/en/facilities/student-affairs/financial-matters/profiling-fund-and-talent-grant/talent-grant/) for the Talent Grant.
- Submit Before the Deadline: Mark your calendar—the application must be in by 1 June 2024.
- Await the Decision: Your application will go through a ranking process by the academy director and the final approval comes from the Executive Board of AHK and expect to hear back by 15 July 2024.
