The Scholarship for Internship in a Practice Environment (BSMP) is an opportunity offered by Fonds de Recherche du Québec for master’s and doctoral students in humanities, social sciences, arts, and literature. It provides a monthly stipend of $1,500 for 2 to 6 months to support practical work experience in a Québec-based organization. This article outlines the benefits, eligibility criteria, application process, and deadlines for interested students.

Benefits

The BSMP scholarship provides a financial benefit of $1,500 per month for a duration of 2 to 6 months. The funding is intended to support students in gaining work experience that complements their academic studies, without directly contributing to their thesis projects.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the BSMP scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled as full-time students in a master’s or doctoral research program at a Québec university.
  • Plan to conduct their internship within Québec.
  • Have the support and supervision of their academic research supervisor and an internship host supervisor.
  • Ensure that their internship is separate from their thesis research and not part of a mandatory or for-credit university program.

Postsecondary teaching institutions and university-affiliated research centers are generally ineligible, except in specific circumstances where the internship provides distinct practical experience outside the student’s primary field of study.
