CSC Scholarship 2027 at Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine Open
The Chinese Government Scholarship–High-Level Postgraduate Program at Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine is accepting applications for 2027 master’s study in China, supporting international students in traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese materia medica. Tuition, accommodation, a living allowance and medical insurance are covered, giving you a route to develop a clinical or medicinal-research interest through a three-year degree.
The first choice is your specialism; the second is whether you can study it in Chinese. Do you need HSK, and must you apply through both the university and CSC? This guide explains the programme options, funding and documents before taking you through the two submissions.
01What can you study at Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine?
You can apply for a three-year master’s in one of two subject groups: traditional Chinese medicine or Chinese materia medica. The university also runs undergraduate and doctoral admissions, but this particular scholarship notice funds master’s students only.
| Subject group | Specialisms in the scholarship call |
|---|---|
| Traditional Chinese medicine | Acupuncture and tuina; paediatrics; gynaecology; internal medicine; formula studies; orthopaedics and traumatology; eye, ear, nose and throat medicine; surgery. |
| Chinese materia medica | Chinese/natural medicinal chemistry; medicinal-resource development; pharmacology and toxicology; modern processing research; preparations and quality analysis; functional products using medicinal and edible resources. |
I would choose the specialism before drafting your study plan: explain the question you want to investigate and why that particular training fits your academic background.
02What does the Shanxi CSC Scholarship pay for?
The award covers tuition, accommodation, a living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. The CSC-attributed national guide lists the standard master’s stipend as CNY 3,000 per month; Shanxi’s own notice confirms living support without repeating the amount.
Funding can include Chinese preparatory study, generally one year, as well as the normal degree period. This does not remove the published HSK entry condition. Flights are not listed among the benefits, so I would keep travel and initial personal expenses in your own budget.
03Who meets Shanxi’s academic and Chinese-language requirements?
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy, and hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent with excellent results. The programme table gives an age range of 18–35; the general eligibility paragraph says normally no older than 35.
- The teaching language is Chinese, with HSK Level 4 normally the minimum. IELTS is not the language credential requested for these programmes.
- Applicants who earned a Chinese-taught degree at a Chinese university are exempt from submitting an HSK certificate under the scholarship notice.
- You must also meet the university’s academic and other admission requirements. The notice does not publish a universal GPA conversion or automatic eligibility for every bachelor’s subject.
04How do you submit the Shanxi scholarship application?
Complete both the CSC application and the university admission submission. Start with the official 2027 scholarship notice and prepare its required evidence:
- CSC form; passport information page; notarised highest qualification, or an official expected-graduation/enrolment certificate; stamped transcripts from undergraduate study onwards.
- Valid HSK evidence unless exempt; a Chinese- or English-language study plan exceeding 1,000 words; two recommendations from professors or associate professors.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form and police clearance. The scholarship notice gives six-month validity for the medical examination and normally requires police evidence issued within six months before submission. The general admissions guide uses a shorter three-month medical window; preparing it within three months satisfies both.
- Register through Campus China. Choose Type B and agency number 10809; verify that Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine appears.
- Enter the chosen programme, upload clear documents, submit and download the generated CSC application form.
- Submit the university application as well. Its 2027 general admission guide identifies sxtcm.at0086.cn/student as the online destination. Use the scholarship deadline rather than the later general-admission deadline.
- Follow university instructions for a written assessment or interview. Shanxi recommends selected applicants to CSC, whose expert review determines the scholarship award.
05Which mistakes could undermine a Shanxi application?
The call prohibits overlapping support from other Chinese government or admitting-university scholarships, apart from one-off awards. Disclose existing funding accurately.
06What else should Shanxi applicants know?
Is a professor’s acceptance letter compulsory?
The published scholarship checklist does not list a separate supervisor acceptance letter. Prepare the two academic recommendations and required study plan; do not treat a friendly faculty reply as a scholarship award.
Can a final-year bachelor’s student apply?
Yes. The call accepts an official expected-graduation or enrolment certificate in place of the final qualification at application stage.
Can I change my subject after winning?
The notice says scholarship recipients cannot change their admitted university, major or study duration after arrival. Choose a specialism you are prepared to pursue before submitting.
07When does the Shanxi CSC Scholarship 2027 close?
Choose your specialism, request your slowest academic document and begin the study plan. Schedule the medical examination close enough to submission to satisfy the shorter university admission window.
