University of Artois France Scholarship 2027: Master and PhD Applicants Process
The University of Artois in France has opened applications for the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship 2027, offering outstanding international students support for eligible master’s and doctoral study. With a monthly allowance, travel support and insurance, the scholarship helps selected students pursue advanced study in fields ranging from engineering and environmental research to economics, law and French studies.
Could Artois be the right place for your next degree or research project? Before you can compete for Eiffel funding, the university must select and nominate you. This guide explains which programmes qualify, what the scholarship covers and how to prepare and submit your application.

01 Match your ambitions to an Artois programme
Start with a specific master’s course or research project. Artois’ catalogue covers sciences and technology, law, economics, management, languages and humanities, but Eiffel funding is limited to its priority fields. A course appearing in the general catalogue is not, by itself, proof that it qualifies.
The seven Eiffel fields are biology and health; ecological transition; mathematics and digital sciences; engineering sciences; French history, language and civilisation; law and political science; and economics and management. Doctoral applicants also need a suitable research host.
I would identify two or three specific features of the chosen course or laboratory that connect with work you have already done. Use those connections to explain your plans, rather than filling the application with general praise for France. Our Eiffel nomination guide explains how university support leads to national consideration.
02 Meet Artois’ academic and personal eligibility rules
Artois expects an annual average of at least 14/20 under the French grading standard in each of the last three years of higher education. It also considers cohort rank and size, the quality of your project and the course leader’s or research supervisor’s assessment. Do not convert this into an unofficial universal GPA cutoff; provide your institution’s grading information.
Applicants must be foreign nationals without French nationality. Master’s candidates must be born after 31 March 1997; doctoral candidates after 31 March 1991. Artois excludes master’s applicants already studying or residing in France. Doctoral candidates abroad receive priority, while some applicants already in France may qualify.
Continuing education, distance learning, apprenticeships, professional training contracts and salaried doctoral contracts are excluded. Eiffel cannot overlap with another French government scholarship, Erasmus+ or an AUF scholarship.
03 What financial support can Artois Eiffel scholars receive?
Eiffel combines a monthly allowance with supporting services. The degree level and entry stage determine the duration, so use the comparison below to plan the study period you want funded.
| Study route | Monthly allowance | Maximum support under the applicable rules |
|---|---|---|
| Master’s | €1,200 | M1 entry: 24 months; M2 entry: 12 months |
| Doctorate | €2,000 | 12, 18 or 36 months, depending on stage and research arrangement |
Travel, insurance, housing-search assistance and cultural activities are provided under programme conditions. Housing assistance does not mean rent is paid. Eiffel itself does not cover programme tuition charges; qualifying French government scholarship holders receive registration-fee exemptions for national degrees and recognised engineering diplomas at public institutions.
I recommend making a simple budget for rent, deposits and any remaining university charges before accepting a funded place. That will show how far the allowance can take you and whether you need money available before the first payment.
04 Prepare evidence that explains your academic strengths
Artois wants to see both achievement and a convincing reason for your next step. Begin with the academic evidence explicitly identified in its call:
- Transcripts showing the annual results for your last three years of higher education.
- Your rank and cohort size, with any relevant evidence of an excellence track.
- A clear study or research project linked to your professional goals.
- The course leader’s or research supervisor’s assessment highlighting the strength of your candidacy.
Use the application form’s own checklist for the complete set of attachments. The Eiffel document preparation guide can help you organise identity, academic and project records, but it does not replace Artois’ instructions. In your project, explain what you can already do, what you still need to learn and why this programme is the right place to learn it.
05 How to submit your Artois Eiffel application
The official University of Artois Eiffel call requires both an online form and an emailed dossier. Read the Campus France 2027 call and current programme regulations, supplied by Orléans for the national nomination and funding rules.
- Choose the course or research team. Use the Artois course catalogue or laboratory directory. Establish the course language, entry requirements and academic support for your project.
- Complete the online form in Chrome. Open the Artois Eiffel application form. The university permits only one online form, so review the information before submitting.
- Finish the signed dossier. Fully complete and sign the application form. Gather all required supporting documents into one PDF, following the form’s checklist.
- Email the appropriate Artois office. Master’s applicants send the signed form and supporting PDF to [email protected]; doctoral applicants use [email protected].
- Follow the selection outcome. Artois reviews candidates and forwards its selected dossiers to Campus France. National selection determines the scholarship award; submitting the university form does not guarantee funding.
For applicants covered by Études en France, Artois treats Eiffel selection separately. If you want to pursue admission regardless of the scholarship result, you must also follow the applicable Études en France procedure.
06 Avoid an incomplete or duplicate Eiffel submission
Do not stop after submitting the online form. Artois also requires the signed form and supporting PDF by email. Only one institution may nominate you in the same campaign. Use the Eiffel university and deadline comparison to make your choice before committing to a nomination.
07 Artois Eiffel questions worth resolving early
Can I apply again after an earlier Eiffel nomination?
Artois says candidates previously presented to Campus France are generally ineligible. It identifies an exception for former Eiffel master’s recipients seeking 12- or 18-month doctoral funding; declare this in the form’s sworn statement.
Is the Artois Eiffel call an English-taught programme offer?
No particular English-taught degree is identified in this call. Read the chosen course’s teaching-language and language-evidence requirements before preparing your application.
Does meeting the 14/20 benchmark guarantee a nomination?
No. Artois also assesses your ranking, project and academic endorsement. Use your evidence to explain the quality of your work and the purpose of your proposed study.
