Paris-Panthéon-Assas Eiffel Scholarship 2027–2028: Eligibility, Funding and Application Guide

Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas in France has announced its France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship campaign for 2027–2028 master’s and doctoral study. The university application window is upcoming, giving you time to prepare your academic evidence and identify the right course or research route.

Your first decision is whether you can make a convincing academic match. For master’s applicants, French-language readiness deserves an early check: a strong transcript will not solve a missing language requirement. For doctoral applicants, the research arrangements and requested funding duration need to fit together.

The application also has two separate tracks. Assas must support your Eiffel candidature, while admission follows the university’s own procedure. A scholarship dossier does not replace an admission application, and university support does not guarantee the national award.

Start by checking eligibility, then your study choice and remaining costs. The steps below help you prepare a coherent dossier and avoid confusing the university’s deadline with the later institutional submission stage.

Your route to an Assas Eiffel nomination
Status: Announced; university applications open later this month.
Who can apply: Eligible foreign nationals seeking master’s or doctoral study.
Living allowance: €1,200/month for master’s; €2,000/month for doctorates.
Additional support: Travel, insurance and accommodation-search assistance; housing is not automatically free.
Language: Master’s: French C1 for M1 or C2 for M2, with specified alternative evidence.
Fees and timing: Scholarship application fee not stated; check admission costs separately. University deadline applies.
Official information checked: 11 October 2026; programme-list clarification needed.

01 Check your nationality, age and study location

You must hold foreign nationality and meet the age and study-location rules for your level. French dual nationals are excluded. The published birth-date cutoffs are after 31 March 1997 for master’s applicants and after 31 March 1991 for doctoral applicants.

Master’s candidates currently studying in France are ineligible. For M1, you need a foreign qualification equivalent to 180 ECTS, completed or being completed. Assas accepts specified French-study or French-diploma evidence as alternatives to its language certificate.

A previous unsuccessful Eiffel application can block a new candidature; check your history before investing in translations. The national guide permits some former Eiffel master’s recipients to seek doctoral funding, but excludes them from the 36-month route. You cannot combine Eiffel with another French state scholarship, and nomination by multiple institutions leads to rejection.

02 What does Eiffel pay—and what remains yours?

Eiffel supports living expenses and mobility, but does not pay training fees. Registration-fee exemptions apply to qualifying national diplomas at eligible public institutions. Ask Assas which charges remain for your exact programme before treating the award as a complete budget.

Master’s funding can last up to 24 months for M1 entry or 12 months for M2 entry. Doctoral funding normally follows 12-, 18- or 36-month arrangements. The longest route is for first-year newcomers without current French enrolment and cannot involve a cotutelle. Shorter routes depend on thesis year and joint supervision arrangements.

Assas’s webpage mentions doctoral stays from six months; the attached national rules distinguish six-month minimum segments from the standard award durations. Have the university confirm your proposed schedule.

03 Which Assas programme should you choose?

Choose one eligible master’s programme and confirm its entry level with Assas. Its announcement primarily selects at M1, with named French/European and French/foreign law exceptions at M2.

The linked programme document includes the following subject groups. However, although the webpage labels the attachment for 2027–2028, the PDF itself is headed 2026–2027. Use it to explore your academic fit and request current-cycle confirmation before finalising your choice.

Your background Areas in the linked list Your next check
Law Business, international, European, public, private, digital and human-rights law Exact specialisation and M1/M2 entry
Economics or finance Economic research, law and economics, public economics/management, finance Academic prerequisites and excluded apprenticeship routes
Politics or international relations Public policy, political science, international politics and strategic studies Current eligibility of your preferred track

04 How do you move from preparation to nomination?

Prepare your documents for Assas; the university handles national nomination. Follow this sequence:

  1. Read the current call. Open the official Assas Eiffel announcement, including its attachments and candidate commitment charter.
  2. Resolve your programme and submission route. The checked announcement does not identify a student submission portal. Contact Christel Vallantin at [email protected] for instructions and programme-list clarification; do not assume the contact email is the dossier submission channel.
  3. Assemble your PDFs. Prepare identity evidence, qualifications, ranking evidence, recent transcripts, language evidence, CV, career plan and signed charter. Follow Assas’s language and translation instructions. Master’s applicants should check whether ENIC-NARIC recognition is required for their non-ECTS qualification.
  4. For a doctorate, organise the research evidence early. Review the 2027 Eiffel application guide for the thesis proposal, external expert assessment, expert CV, financing plan and supervision documents. Ask Assas to resolve any differences between its checklist and the national guide.
  5. Complete admission separately. Consult Assas’s admissions guidance and your programme instructions. Confirm the applicable procedure, schedule and charges; these depend on your study route.
  6. Submit and follow up. Keep your submission evidence. If Assas supports your dossier, respond to its next-stage requests and obtain confirmation of nomination. Keep your admission arrangements moving while awaiting the national decision.

05 When must your Assas dossier arrive?

The last date to apply for the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship 2027–2028 through Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas is 5 November 2026 at 15:00 Paris time. The university application period begins on 19 October 2026.

The national institutional submission deadline is 6 January 2027; it is for universities and does not extend your Assas deadline. Results are scheduled to reach institutions during the week of 12 April 2027. Check your chosen programme’s admission deadline separately.
