TIMEP Bassem Sabry Fellowship 2026 Open

The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP), in partnership with the Atlas Corps Fellowship at Cultural Vistas, has announced that applications are open for the 2025–2026 Bassem Sabry Fellowship. This prestigious six-month, full-time, in-person program will take place at TIMEP’s Washington, DC office from November 15, 2025, to May 15, 2026. The fellowship honors the legacy of the late Egyptian political writer Bassem Sabry, offering young professionals working on Middle East and North Africa (MENA) issues the opportunity to contribute to policy and advocacy work that advances democratic and inclusive societies.

Funding Package and Benefits

The Bassem Sabry Fellowship, through the Atlas Corps Fellowship, provides comprehensive support to selected fellows, including:

  • Round-trip travel from the fellow’s home city to Washington, DC.
  • Coverage of visa fees and transportation stipends for related appointments.
  • Monthly mobile phone bill coverage and full health insurance during the fellowship.
  • Monthly living stipend for shared housing, meals, and local transportation.
  • Pre-fellowship and arrival orientations, mid-term and end-of-fellowship workshops, ongoing personalized mentorship, and access to leadership development opportunities.
  • Eligibility for a one-time post-fellowship stipend upon successful completion of program requirements.

Fellows will also be integrated into TIMEP’s local and global network, attend policy briefings, engage with decision-makers, and gain targeted skills in advocacy, analysis, and leadership.

Short Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Be 35 years old or younger and based outside the United States.
  • Have at least three years of relevant work experience.
  • Be proficient in both English and Arabic (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Commit to returning to their home country after the fellowship.
  • Hold a passport valid for at least six (06) months beyond the program’s end date.

Candidates should also demonstrate strong connections to civil society in the MENA region and align with TIMEP’s mission and the values Bassem Sabry championed.

Application Timeline

Applications for the Bassem Sabry Fellowship must be submitted via the official Google Form by 11:59 pm EST on August 28, 2025. The selected fellow will serve from November 15, 2025, to May 15, 2026 at TIMEP’s Washington, DC office.
