University of Toronto Mastercard Scholarship 2025

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at U of T is a comprehensive, fully funded graduate scholarship that offers students from Sub-Saharan Africa the opportunity to pursue world-class education at one of the top research universities globally. With a focus on healthcare, the program supports scholars in developing the skills, networks, and knowledge necessary to contribute to Africa’s healthcare systems.

U of T Mastercard Scholarship Benefits

The program covers all expenses related to graduate studies at U of T, including:

  • Full tuition
  • Travel expenses to Canada (including passport and visa fees)
  • Housing and food
  • Health insurance
  • Laptop and learning materials
  • Other necessary costs

This ensures that scholars can focus entirely on their education and development without worrying about financial barriers.

Areas of Study

For the 2025-2026 academic year, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will accept applications for the following healthcare-related graduate programs at U of T:

  • Master of Occupational and Environmental Health
  • Master of Social and Behavioural Health Sciences
  • Master of Health Administration
  • Master of Financial Insurance
  • Master of Engineering (Biomedical)
  • Master of Biotechnology (starting in May 2026)

Africa Health Collaborative

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is part of a broader initiative to strengthen Africa’s healthcare workforce. U of T is collaborating with eight leading African universities to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals. This partnership, called the Africa Health Collaborative, emphasizes creating employment opportunities for women and strengthening health systems across the continent.

The application deadline for the 2025-2026 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at U of T is November 4, 2024, at 12 noon (Toronto time).
