Bachelor’s Graduate? Your Route Starts Before the PhD
BMS is unusual because applicants do not necessarily need a Master’s degree before entering its doctoral ecosystem.

Applicants holding or completing a Master’s degree can apply directly to Phase II doctoral research.
This route should not be described as an automatic “fully funded BMS PhD.”
BMS evaluates suitable candidates and forwards strong applications to potential supervisors within the BMS/MATH+ network. Admission only proceeds when the applicant has secured funding for at least three years.
That funding may come from:
- An employment contract in a supervisor’s research group;
- An International Research Training Group or other funded project;
- a MATH+ research project; or
