5 New Canadian Scholarship Options Available to You in 2023

Dozens of generous scholarships in Canada are there for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree levels. I have listed below the 5 latest Canadian scholarships for you:

1- Canada Graduate Scholarships for International Students:

The first name we have is the Canada Graduate sponsorship program for international students planning to play their crucial role in the research field by opting for MS & Doctorate studies at Canadian institutes. Every year almost 3,000 students get financial assistance via this Canadian scholarship and receive $17,500 for 12 months. However, it is a non-renewable scholarship, co-funded by the SSRC, NSERC, & Canadian Health Research Institutes. Meanwhile, applicants with Canadian citizenship or the Protected person under the refugee act are eligible. Also, the eligible student must not hold a CGM scholarship previously.

2- Canadian OAS Academic Scholarships:

Next is the fully-funded OAS Academic Scholarships, sponsored by the Organization of American States in cooperation with the Canadian Government. International students willing to apply for the OAS scholarships for undergrad and grad studies must be enrolled as full-time students in OAS member countries. Meanwhile, the scholarship duration is 1 to 2 years, and scholars have to return to their sponsor countries after completing their education. Similarly, there are no IELTS requirements for such OAS scholarships.

3- Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements Scholarships:

Like the other scholarships of the Canadian Government, it is another initiative sponsored by the SSHRC, CIHR, & NSERC Canadian Councils for underprivileged overseas applicants interested in completing research studies in Canada. Considering eligibility requirements for Michael Smooth Study Supplements, applicants must be enrolled in any graduate programs at accredited Canadian universities. Meanwhile, winners will get $6,000 to sponsor their research program. Moreover, there are no IELTS restrictions for CGS-Michael Smith Scholarship.

4- Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships:

VCG scholarships are funded scholarships after the name of Canadian Governor General Georges P. Vanier, allowing overseas and local students to enjoy tuition-free doctoral studies in Canada. Applicants with a great academic record, research potential, leadership skills, and excellence will give preference. On the other hand, it is a three-year scholarship in which applicants are bound to conduct research in Social Science, Humanities, Engineering, and Health Sciences fields.

5- Banting Post-Doctoral Fellowships:

Another prestigious scholarship contributing to promoting affordable education among overseas students is the Banting postdoctoral fellowship program. It is a scholarship by the government of Canada for domestic and international researchers that does not ask for IELTS scores. However, all the potential students invited by the Canadian host institutes are welcome to apply for this fellowship and enjoy this scholarship for 2 years with various perks. Meanwhile, every year 70 Canadian fellowships are awarded to deserving students to play a dominant role in the research community.
