UEA British Council GREAT Scholarship 2026

The University of East Anglia has opened applications for the British Council GREAT Scholarship for the 2026 academic year, marking a significant opportunity for talented students from Bangladesh seeking postgraduate study in the United Kingdom.

Offered in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, this scholarship provides a financial award of £10,000 and underscores the UK’s continued commitment to supporting global academic mobility and international development.

UEA British Council 2026 Scholarship Benefits

The British Council GREAT Scholarship provides a £10,000 contribution toward tuition fees for one outstanding student from Bangladesh enrolling in a full-time one-year taught postgraduate program. The award is designed to reduce the financial pressures associated with international study, enabling the successful scholar to concentrate on academic advancement and professional growth. As a tuition-focused scholarship, the amount is directly deducted from the recipient’s fees and may only be combined with the International Early Payment Award.

Supported Programs and Language of Instruction

The scholarship applies to full-time postgraduate taught programs beginning in September 2026. Instruction for all eligible courses is delivered in English, ensuring a globally accessible academic experience. While most postgraduate programs are eligible, a small number—including MSc Global Plant Health, MSc Plant Genetics and Crop Improvement, and MA The Arts of Africa, Oceania and The Americas—are excluded as per the university’s specific criteria.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must be residents and passport-holding nationals of Bangladesh and must already possess either a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time postgraduate taught program at UEA. Their admission offer must confirm international fee-paying status. Students fully sponsored by external organizations or government entities are not eligible, although the use of repayable government or educational loans does not affect eligibility. Only self-funded candidates meeting UEA’s international admissions criteria will be considered.

Application Period

Applications for the British Council UEA scholarship will remain open until 23:59 (GMT) on 31 May 2026.
