University of Winnipeg Scholarships 2026-2027 for Undergrad, Master and PhD Students

The University of Winnipeg has opened applications for its 2026-27 scholarship cycle, and two awards in particular deserve your attention if you are an international student planning to study in Canada. The President’s Scholarship for World Leaders offers a $5,000 award across multiple divisions, while the Wu Chung Scholarship goes several steps further — covering virtually every cost of a four-year undergraduate degree, from tuition down to your plane ticket.

Whether you are finishing high school in Nairobi, Dhaka, Manila, or anywhere else outside Canada, these scholarships are structured to make a University of Winnipeg education genuinely affordable. Here is exactly what each one offers, who qualifies, and how to apply before the deadlines close.

What Your Wallet Actually Gets: The Financial Breakdown

These are not token discounts. Here is what each scholarship puts on the table.

Scholarship What It Covers Award Value Number of Awards
President’s Scholarship for World Leaders One-time financial award for admitted international students entering Undergraduate, Graduate, Collegiate, or PACE divisions $5,000 15 total (6 Undergraduate, 3 Graduate, 3 Collegiate, 3 PACE)

Who Gets a Seat at This Table: Eligibility Criteria

Not every international student qualifies automatically. Each scholarship has a specific checklist, and you need to meet every item — not most of them — before applying.

President’s Scholarship for World Leaders

  • You must be an international student entering your first program at the University of Winnipeg (Undergraduate, Graduate, Collegiate, or PACE)
  • You need the equivalent of a Canadian 80% grade average based on Grade 12 academic courses used for admission (UWinnipeg’s credential evaluators handle the conversion)
  • PACE applicants are assessed based on post-secondary transcripts
  • You must demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities beyond academics
  • Your admission application must be complete — fees paid, all documents received — by the scholarship deadline
  • You must register for and maintain a full-time course load

Wu Chung Scholarship

  • You must be a resident of Huadu (Guangzhou) or Hong Kong, China
  • You must meet all academic and English language proficiency requirements for international admission to UWinnipeg and be eligible for a valid Canadian study permit
  • You must not have studied at any other post-secondary institution previously
  • A minimum 70% grade average (or equivalent) from qualifying Level 3 high school courses is required, though the process is competitive and higher averages are stronger
  • You must provide evidence of exceptional leadership qualities and potential for community impact after graduation.

From Zero to Submitted: The Application Process Simplified for You!

Applying for the University of Winnipeg President’s Scholarship for World Leaders is a two-track process that runs parallel to your admission application. First, you apply for admission to the University of Winnipeg — this is where you receive your UWinnipeg student number, and without it, your scholarship application will not be reviewed.

Once you have that student number, you complete the separate online scholarship application form and attach your required documents: a personal statement explaining your goals and leadership experience, a current resume or CV, and two reference letters. Every document must be translated into English if originally in another language. One critical rule — each applicant gets only one submission per cycle, and incomplete admission packages are automatically disqualified.

Circle These Dates or Lose Your Spot: Application Deadlines

For the President’s Scholarship for World Leaders, the deadlines depend on your division and intended start term. Undergraduate students interested for admissions at University of Winnipeg targeting Fall 2026 must apply by June 1, 2026, while those entering in Winter 2027 face an October 1, 2026 deadline.

Whereas, graduate students intending to start studies at University of Winnipeg on scholarship in Fall 2026 or Winter 2027 share a single deadline of June 1, 2026. Collegiate applicants for Fall 2026 must also submit by June 1, 2026. PACE students have two windows — June 1, 2026 for Fall 2026 entry and October 1, 2026 for Winter 2027 entry.
