The biggest advantage for applicants is that this is not limited to finance students or one country. Goldman Sachs is recruiting through separate 2027 Summer Analyst routes covering the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific and India.

However, eligibility is not identical everywhere. Some regions accept penultimate-year Bachelor’s and Master’s students, India specifically targets students graduating in 2028, while the Americas programme is usually undertaken during the third or penultimate year.

Here is the simplified version applicants need.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility by Country and Region

Your eligibility mainly depends on where you want to intern and what year of university you are currently completing.

Instead of treating Goldman Sachs 2027 as one global application, applicants should use the following regional eligibility table.

Region / Countries Eligible Student Stage Eligible Degree Level Internship Duration 2027 Application Status
Asia-Pacific — including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, China, South Korea, India and Taiwan depending on vacancies Students currently in the penultimate year of study Bachelor’s or Master’s 9–11 weeks Open — deadline October 4, 2026
Americas — including opportunities primarily across the United States and other listed Americas offices Usually students in their third or penultimate year College/university degree students 9–10 weeks Selected businesses are open
Europe, Middle East & Africa — EMEA Students in their penultimate or final year Bachelor’s or Master’s 9–10 weeks Open; applications reviewed on rolling basis
India Students graduating in 2028 Bachelor’s or Master’s 8–10 weeks 2027 cycle opened from July 1
Japan-specific international recruitment route Students graduating between August 2027 and July 2028 University students meeting individual role requirements Generally June–August 2027 Applications reviewed on rolling basis

Goldman Sachs confirms that the Asia-Pacific programme accepts students currently in the penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme, while EMEA accepts Bachelor’s and Master’s applicants in their penultimate or final year. The Americas programme is normally undertaken during the third or penultimate year. India has the clearest graduation requirement: applicants must graduate from their Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in 2028.

What does “penultimate year” mean?

It simply means the second-to-last year of your degree.

For example:

  • If your Bachelor’s degree ends in 2028, your penultimate year will normally be 2027.
  • If your Master’s degree ends in 2028, you may also qualify where Master’s students are accepted.
  • If you graduate in 2027, some EMEA opportunities may still be possible because that regional programme accepts certain final-year students.

Always check the individual vacancy because the exact graduation window can differ by role.

Can International Students Apply?

Yes, international students can apply where they meet the academic and legal working requirements of the selected office.

Goldman Sachs recruits internationally and its student programmes span dozens of offices worldwide. The company reports that its recent internship intake represented more than 500 universities and over 70 languages, demonstrating how international its recruitment pipeline has become.

But there is an important distinction:

Being academically eligible does not automatically mean you have work authorization for every country.

A Pakistani student studying in the UK, for example, could potentially target an eligible London opportunity, while another applicant studying in Pakistan may find positions in Dubai, Singapore, India or another suitable location depending on the live vacancies and applicable immigration requirements.

Applicants should therefore check the individual vacancy for:

  • Work authorization requirements
  • Visa or sponsorship conditions
  • Office location
  • Graduation-date requirement
  • Degree eligibility

Do You Need a Finance Degree to Apply?

No. Goldman Sachs recruits students from considerably more academic backgrounds than finance alone. A finance, economics or accounting student may naturally target areas such as Investment Banking, Asset Management or Research. But students studying:

  • Computer Science
  • Software Engineering
  • Data Science
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Physics
  • Engineering

may be highly relevant for Engineering, Quantitative, Risk, Markets or technology-focused opportunities.

The smarter approach is therefore not to ask: “Does Goldman Sachs accept my degree?”

Instead ask: “Which Goldman Sachs division needs the skills my degree has given me?”

How to Apply for Goldman Sachs Summer Analyst Program 2027?

Applications are submitted online through the official Goldman Sachs student careers portal.

The process is easier if applicants follow it in this order.

Step 1 — Open the Goldman Sachs Student Careers Portal

Visit the official Goldman Sachs student opportunities page. Select the 2027 Summer Internship/Summer Analyst opportunities.

Step 2 — Select Your Region

Choose the geographic area where you want to complete your internship: Americas, Asia-Pacific, EMEA or India.

Do not choose a country simply because it sounds attractive. First confirm that you can realistically meet its student-stage, graduation and work-authorization requirements.

Step 3 — Search the Available 2027 Positions

The application portal will display currently available opportunities.

Filter positions using criteria such as:

Experience Level: Summer Analyst
Location: Your preferred country/city
Division: Your preferred business area

Available offices can change as recruitment progresses.

Step 4 — Check Your Graduation Year

This is one of the most important checks.

For example:

  • India: You should graduate in 2028.
  • Asia-Pacific: You should normally currently be in your penultimate year.
  • EMEA: You may be in your penultimate or final year.
  • Americas: The internship is usually undertaken during the third or penultimate year.

Do this check before spending time tailoring your application.

Step 5 — Choose the Right Business Division

Read the job description and match your academic and practical skills to the division.

For example:

  • Finance/Economics → Investment Banking, Asset Management, Research
  • Computer Science/Engineering → Engineering, Technology, Quantitative roles
  • Mathematics/Statistics/Data Science → Markets, Risk, Engineering or Research

Avoid applying randomly across unrelated divisions.

Step 6 — Prepare Your CV or Resume

Goldman Sachs states that it looks forward to reviewing applicants’ CVs or resumes.

Your CV should highlight:

  • University and degree
  • Expected graduation date
  • Academic performance
  • Relevant coursework
  • Internships
  • University projects
  • Leadership experience
  • Student societies
  • Technical skills
  • Research
  • Competitions or achievements

Keep the information relevant to the division you are targeting.

Step 7 — Complete the Online Application

Create or log into your Goldman Sachs candidate account and enter the requested:

  • Personal information
  • University details
  • Degree information
  • Graduation date
  • Location preferences
  • Business/division preferences
  • Employment or internship experience
  • Supporting application information

Upload your updated CV and carefully review the information before submission.

Step 8 — Submit Early

This matters especially for Asia-Pacific and EMEA, where Goldman Sachs explicitly states that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Rolling recruitment means waiting until the final deadline can put you at a disadvantage even if the portal technically remains open.

Step 9 — Prepare for the Selection Process

If Goldman Sachs selects your application for the next stage, interview assessment follows. Goldman Sachs currently tells applicants that the first interview stage can involve a 30-minute video meeting. Applicants should therefore be ready to discuss:

  • Why Goldman Sachs?
  • Why this particular division?
  • Why this location?
  • Your university projects and experiences
  • Technical knowledge relevant to the role
  • Teamwork and leadership examples
  • Recent developments affecting the financial or technology sector.

Goldman Sachs Summer Analyst 2027 Application Deadline

The confirmed final date to apply for the Goldman Sachs Asia-Pacific Summer Analyst Program 2027 is Sunday, October 4, 2026. Goldman Sachs states that applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and applicants should submit as soon as they are ready.

For EMEA, applications are currently open and reviewed on a rolling basis.

For the Americas, applications for selected businesses are open and candidates should check individual vacancies for applicable deadlines.

For India, Goldman Sachs states that the 2027 Summer Analyst application cycle opens from July 1 and targets Bachelor’s or Master’s students graduating in 2028.

Applicants should therefore not wait for one worldwide closing date because Goldman Sachs does not operate a single universal deadline for every country and division.
