The European Academy of Neurology (EAN) has officially opened applications for the prestigious EAN Research Training and Experience Fellowships for 2026, offering international students the unique chance to gain hands-on experience in neuroscience research across top neurological departments in Europe.
What Is the EAN Fellowship All About?
The EAN Research Fellowship is a highly regarded program aimed at supporting neurologists in any area of basic, clinical, or applied neuroscience research. The key requirement? Your research must take place outside your country of residence—opening a gateway to international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
This fellowship is perfect for neurologists and neuroscientists who want to:

Two Distinct Fellowship Types
1# Research Training Fellowship

- Duration: 6 to 12 months
- Objective: Lead to a higher degree, research grant proposal, or peer-reviewed publication
- Target: Early-stage researchers with a strong academic goal.
2# Research Experience Fellowship

- Duration: 3 to 6 months
- Objective: Gain high-quality, targeted research experience
- Target: Clinicians and experienced researchers needing access to specialized techniques not available in their home country.
What’s in the Award Package?
Both types of fellowships come with attractive funding:
- Monthly Stipend: €2,000
- Travel Support: Up to €500
- Flexibility: Fellowship may start retroactively from 1 September 2025, depending on application timing.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a European neurologist conducting research at a neurological department outside your country of residence
- Hold an active EAN RRFS or Full Membership
- Demonstrate clear value and impact of the training or experience on your home department or future career.
