Heidelberg University has opened the DAAD EPOS scholarship route for international professionals seeking admission to its Master of Science in International Health beginning in September 2027. Scholarship applications are being accepted from August 15 to October 15, 2026, while self-funded applicants are expected to apply between October 16, 2026 and March 31, 2027.

Selected DAAD EPOS candidates receive financial support for the full-time, one-year MSc International Health programme. DAAD EPOS awards generally include a monthly graduate stipend, health and accident insurance contributions, a travel allowance and other programme-dependent support. A two-month German language course is also listed for scholarship recipients, although the degree itself is taught in English. The regular full-time tuition fee is €14,100, excluding Heidelberg University’s semester administration charges, accommodation and personal living expenses. Applicants should understand that admission alone does not provide funding: Heidelberg University states that it does not offer its own institutional scholarship for this programme, and only a limited number of DAAD EPOS awards are available.Who Can Apply for the 2027 Intake?
The programme is designed for health and public-health professionals interested in improving health systems in low- and middle-income countries. Applicants must normally meet the following requirements:- Hold a four-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification worth at least 240 ECTS in medicine, public health or another relevant discipline.
- Have at least one year of relevant professional experience, including public-health exposure in a low- or middle-income setting.
- For DAAD EPOS funding, demonstrate at least two years of relevant professional experience after the bachelor’s degree.
- For EPOS, hold citizenship from an eligible OECD-DAC-listed country and normally possess an academic degree completed within the previous six years.
- Show strong academic performance, development-related motivation and an intention to use the qualification in the applicant’s home country.
Is IELTS Required?
IELTS is not compulsory if the applicant can officially prove that previous tertiary education was taught and assessed principally in English. Otherwise, applicants must demonstrate at least B2 English proficiency through an accepted test, using an original result issued by an authorized test centre.How to Apply?
DAAD EPOS candidates must apply through the dedicated Heidelberg MScIH scholarship application system—not directly through the general DAAD portal. Prepare academic records, employment certificates, employer reference, CV, development-focused motivation letter, English evidence and the official DAAD application form.
