Mérieux Foundation and IRD Joint PhD Scholarship 2024
The Mérieux Foundation, in partnership with the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), has announced the launch of a joint PhD scholarship program for the 2024-2025 academic year. This initiative aims to bolster the diagnostic and research capabilities of laboratories within the GABRIEL network by offering financial support to PhD candidates engaged in collaborative projects between the two institutions.
Scholarship Sponsorship Details
The Mérieux Foundation PHD scholarship offers up to 50,000 euros over 36 months, providing a monthly contribution towards living expenses based on the salary scale of a junior researcher in the host country. This funding, managed by the host laboratory, covers the beneficiary’s thesis expenses without exceeding the host laboratory’s pay scale for similar positions. The host laboratory is also responsible for ensuring the candidate’s social security coverage throughout the scholarship period.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be registered as doctoral students in a French doctoral school for the academic year 2024-2025. Applications are open to those planning to register, with or without co-tutorship with a doctoral school in their home country. The scholarship requires a detailed application package, including a CV, motivation letter, thesis project proposal, and letters of commitment from involved institutions and directors.
Application Process
Applications for the Mérieux Foundation doctoral scholarship must be submitted by April 30, 2024. Candidates are advised to send their completed applications in French or English via email to both [email protected] and [email protected]. The selection process involves a review by a committee composed of representatives from both the Mérieux Foundation and IRD, with short-listed candidates being notified by May 13, 2024, for interviews.
