Are you a student from a developing country with advanced skills and a desire to gain real-world experience in Japan? The METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry) Government Paid Internship program could be your chance!
METI Government Internship 2024 Benefits
- Training: Includes pre-internship training covering business overviews and work culture.
- Travel and Accommodation: Airfare and housing arrangements are provided.
- Stipend: 3,000 yen per day for in-person; 1,000 yen per day equivalent for online internships.
- Equipment: Necessary computers are provided for the internship.
- Insurance: Internship insurance is covered
Eligibility Standards

- Language Skills: Proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N3 or higher) or in English.
- Age: Applicants should be aged 18 to 40 as of August 1, 2024.
- Educational Status: Students must provide a certificate of enrollment and a letter of recommendation. Graduates must provide a graduation certificate and a recommendation letter.
- Availability: Ability to dedicate full-time to the internship as per the program’s schedule.
- Other Qualifications: IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, CEFR, or JLPT certifications are required.
- Previous Participation: Applicants should not have participated in the program from FY2016 to FY2023.
Internship Options
- In-Person Internships: Work on-site at small to medium-sized Japanese companies.
- Online Internships: Participate remotely from your home country.
