Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, invites domestic and international candidates to apply for the prestigious Road to Research Scholarship for the 2024 academic year. This initiative is designed for students who are onshore and eligible to commence the second year of the Master of Research (MRes) program in Session 2, 2024.

Scholarship Purpose

The Road to Research Scholarship supports students undertaking short research projects as part of their Year 2 curriculum in the MRes program. Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be physically present in Australia at the time of application.
  • Intend to reside in Sydney, Australia, during their candidature.
  • Plan to enroll full-time in the MRes Year 2 starting July 2024.
  • Meet the English language and admission criteria for direct entry into MRes Year 2.
  • Hold a valid visa for study commencement in July 2024. International applicants may need to apply for a student visa if their current visa is inadequate.
  • Have secured confirmation of supervision from an eligible Macquarie University researcher.

Exclusions:

  • Current enrollees in any Macquarie higher degree research program, including those in MRes Year 2 or MRes Year 1/BPhil programs, are ineligible.
  • Applicants receiving another major award, scholarship, or salary to undertake the proposed course are not eligible.
  • Those who have completed a research degree at the same or higher level as the proposed candidature are not eligible..

Application Process

  1. Online Application: Submit your application via Macquarie University’s HDR Scholarship portal. Applications for July 2024 (Session 2) commencement are open until 30 April 2024.
  2. Required Documents: Ensure you include a valid Macquarie University letter of offer for the MRes Year 2 program. If you have an offer letter dated within the last six months, submit a Scholarship Only application.

Macquarie University ranks candidates based on academic merit, using the Weighted Average Mark (WAM) or Grade Point Average (GPA) for evaluations. Overseas qualifications are assessed according to Australian Government guidelines to ensure compatibility with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
