Are you a non-EU/EEA international student dreaming of advancing your education in Denmark? The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) offers an exciting opportunity through the Danish Government Scholarship program for the January 2025 academic intake. Designed for outstanding students from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, this scholarship aims to support talented individuals pursuing a Master’s degree at one of Scandinavia’s top universities.

The Danish Government Scholarship is awarded as either a full or partial tuition fee waiver combined with a grant to assist with your basic living costs.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this prestigious scholarship, you must:

  • Be a citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland.
  • Have secured admission to a Master’s degree program at UCPH.
  • Be granted a time-limited residence permit in Denmark for the purpose of studying a higher educational program.

Unfortunately, you are not eligible if you:

  • Have legal claims to the rights of Danish citizens.
  • Are eligible for grants under the Danish State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme.
  • Have been granted a residence permit as a child of a non-EU/EEA foreign citizen under specific Danish Aliens Consolidations Act conditions.

Scholarships are awarded solely based on academic achievements without consideration of financial need. All eligible candidates who are offered admission will automatically be considered; there’s no need for a separate scholarship application. UCPH will inform nominated students through the DANS application portal.

For International Applicants (outside EU, EEA, Switzerland):

For Danish and EU/EEA/Swiss Applicants:

    • Application Deadline: October 15, 2024
    • Admission Reply By: December 10, 2024

Please be aware that you must accept or decline the scholarship offer within the deadline specified in your admission offer.

Language Requirements

All Master’s programs taught in English at UCPH do not require Danish language proficiency. However, proof of English language proficiency is necessary, typically via TOEFL or IELTS test scores. Depending on your background, you might be exempt from taking these tests; check the specific program requirements for more details.
