50 Engineering Scholarships 2027 Worldwide: BE, MS and PhD Admissions Application Guide

Engineering scholarships for 2027 can help international students fund bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees abroad, with options ranging from tuition waivers to packages covering study and everyday living. The opportunity is exciting. Finding the right application route can be exhausting.

Subscribe on Google

Perhaps you are searching from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas or the Pacific. You find a promising award, open the eligibility page and immediately hit another question: does it accept your nationality? Is your engineering branch included? Will the stipend cover rent? Do you need admission, a supervisor or a school nomination first?

Before long, you have 20 tabs open and no clear next step. Let’s turn that search into a plan. This guide will help you understand the funding, check your degree route, organise your documents and build a shortlist from 50 international scholarships and financial-aid options. You can then spend your energy on applications that fit you.

Across these schemes, you will find opportunities connected to civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, computer, environmental, materials, aerospace, biomedical, energy and other engineering fields. Your exact programme still needs to appear in the award’s eligible options. Some 2027 applications are underway, others have upcoming or unannounced calls, and the final four entries give you a separate plan for the next available intake.

Before You Choose an Engineering Scholarship, Check Your Route First
Your starting point: Your nationality, previous qualification, engineering specialisation and funding needs.
Degree choices: BS/bachelor’s, MS/master’s and PhD/doctorate, depending on the award.
Funding choices: Comprehensive packages, tuition waivers, partial scholarships and need-based financial aid.
English evidence: Use the programme’s accepted test or approved waiver; there is no universal IELTS exemption.
Application costs: Check university fees separately, even when the scholarship application is free.
Reading the dates: Confirmed dates are stated. “Expected” is a planning estimate; “not announced” means a next date has not been confirmed.
Information checked: 9 October 2026. Entries 47–50 are next-cycle planning options.

First, picture what your engineering scholarship could cover in 2027

A comprehensive scholarship can support both education and living costs, while a tuition award helps with fees and leaves other expenses for you to finance. Start with that distinction, and your shortlist will become much easier to manage.

Imagine joining a robotics laboratory, studying renewable-energy systems or researching safer infrastructure with financial support behind you. You still have challenging work ahead, but funding can give you more room to concentrate on lectures, projects and research.

Depending on the scholarship, your support could include:

  • Tuition support: A full fee waiver, partial reduction or fixed contribution.
  • Money for everyday life: A monthly stipend, annual allowance or assessed financial-aid package.
  • A place to live: University accommodation, residence support or an allowance towards rent.
  • Help getting there: Approved airfare, relocation, settling-in or visa-related support.
  • Health and research support: Insurance and, under some research awards, project, conference or thesis-related allowances.

Tempting? Good—now make the numbers work for you. These benefits appear across different schemes; every award does not provide all of them. KTH, Lund and Aalto tuition scholarships need a separate living-cost plan, and EPFL’s fellowship leaves expenses for the student to manage.

For each option, write down what it pays, what remains, how long it lasts and what you must do to renew it. Once you know the budget you need, the next step is to check which academic route you can enter.

Back to your application plan

Next, find the Engineering Degree Route that Fits You

Your previous qualification and subject preparation determine where you can start; each scholarship then adds its own selection rules. You do not need to memorise 50 sets of criteria today. Begin with the row that matches your next degree.

Your target degree Your usual academic starting point Your first eligibility checks
BS / bachelor’s Recognised secondary-school completion, or predicted results where accepted, with suitable mathematics and science subjects. Required school subjects, grades, school-leaver restrictions, age limits where imposed, entrance tests, language evidence and any school nomination.
MS / master’s A recognised engineering or sufficiently related bachelor’s degree, with the required grades and subject credits. Degree equivalence, prerequisite modules, taught or research route, eligible programme list and professional experience where required.
PhD / doctorate Usually a relevant master’s or strong research preparation; some universities accept excellent bachelor’s graduates for direct PhD entry. Direct-entry rules, research experience, proposal requirements, supervisor or project fit, and funding duration.

On a small screen, swipe across the table to read every column.

Found your row? Check your branch next. A chemical-engineering graduate may qualify for an energy or materials master’s if the required modules match. A mechanical-engineering graduate exploring biomedical engineering should compare the programme’s prerequisites with their transcript. That small check can save hours on an unsuitable application.

Then check your passport and circumstances. Commonwealth, Australia Awards, Manaaki, ADB–JSP and TaiwanICDF restrict eligible countries. Swedish tuition scholarships depend on fee liability. DAAD EPOS asks for relevant professional experience, while need-based awards ask you to demonstrate financial need.

There is no shared GPA, age limit or IELTS score across this list. Use your chosen programme’s actual rules, including any accepted English-test alternatives or medium-of-instruction waiver. If those checks look promising, you are ready for the practical part: assembling the evidence.

Back to your application plan

Get your document folder ready before the deadlines crowd in

Prepare one organised set of core documents, then adapt it to each scholarship’s checklist. You can reuse your transcripts; your motivation statement deserves a fresh explanation of why that particular programme fits you.

Your application Core documents commonly requested Extra evidence to prepare when required
BS Passport or identity evidence, school transcripts, completion certificate or predicted grades, personal essays, references and language evidence. School nomination, entrance or SAT/ACT results, mathematics/science results, activity and leadership records, and family income/assets for need-based aid.
MS Passport, bachelor’s certificate or permitted provisional evidence, complete transcripts, CV, tailored motivation statement, references and language evidence. Course descriptions, employment letters, development-impact statement, admission offer, financial-need evidence or a research plan for a research master’s.
PhD Passport, relevant degree certificates and transcripts, academic CV, research statement or proposal, references and language evidence. Supervisor support, thesis abstract or sample, publications if available, project-specific technical evidence and host acceptance where required.

On a small screen, swipe across the table to read every column.

Keep clear scans, translations and originals together, with filenames you can recognize quickly. Arrange certified copies, legalization or apostilles when the instructions require them. Medical forms, criminal-record certificates and visa evidence are scheme-specific and may come later.

Your referees need a head start too. Ask early, share your CV and intended programme, and tell them exactly how and when to submit. Keep separate reminders for admission, scholarship forms, fees, language evidence and references.

Your folder does not need to be perfect before you explore the options below. It needs to be organized enough that a promising scholarship leads to a manageable task list. Let’s find those promising options.

List of 50 Engineering Scholarships in 2027 to Choose Best Matches

Read this list to build a shortlist of three to five suitable options. Check the country and degree first, then the funding and application route. Each scholarship name links to official information so you can examine the eligible engineering programme before committing your time.

Here, BS means bachelor’s study, MS includes eligible master’s qualifications and PhD includes doctoral qualifications such as a DPhil. Research master’s and taught master’s degrees can have different funding rules.

If Erasmus Mundus caught your attention, there is fresh news worth understanding: the 2026 selection includes 87 projects—37 Joint Masters and 50 Design Measures. The 37 new master’s programmes are intended to open applications in autumn 2026 for September 2027 study. Look for those matching your engineering interests; the design projects fund programme development and are not additional student scholarship applications.

Thinking about adding JUSTCOOL to your shortlist? Check your undergraduate major first. Its 2027 direct-doctoral recruitment at Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Zhejiang University targets non-Chinese undergraduates majoring in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology, with a bachelor’s awarded between June 2026 and July 2027 and a top-20% programme ranking. The syllabus includes bioengineering-related material, but the published entry rules do not establish general eligibility for engineering majors. If you meet the science-entry rules, follow the official JUSTCOOL admissions instructions and apply by 14 November 2026. Keep it as an additional related option; it is excluded from the 50 engineering funding routes above.

You now have enough options to make a focused choice. Circle the ones that fit your qualifications, passport and budget, and move to the application plan below.

Turn your Shortlist into Applications, one Useful Step at a Time

Your next goal is to complete three to five well-matched applications, following each award’s required sequence. Choose options you can explain convincingly: the right course, a suitable research group, or a funding scheme connected to your experience and future plans.

  1. Give your shortlist a technical direction. Write down your degree and preferred engineering specialisation. “Renewable-energy systems” or “structural resilience” will help you search more effectively than “any scholarship abroad”.
  2. Check the four essentials. Confirm nationality, academic eligibility, programme availability and the cost remaining after funding. Keep an option only when you can meet its conditions and budget.
  3. Put the first application step first. Pearson needs school nomination; Eiffel needs university nomination; HKPFS starts with an initial reference number; Clarendon consideration follows an eligible Oxford course application. For supervisor-based research routes, start the academic conversation early.
  4. Show evidence of your engineering potential. A school project, final-year design, internship, technical challenge or research experience can help explain your preparation. Describe what you did, what you learned and how it connects to the proposed degree. For a PhD, develop a research question and methods that fit the project or supervisor.
  5. Complete the official submission route. Use the links above, submit separate university and scholarship forms where required, select the correct funding option and pay any required fee. Check that documents and referee submissions are complete, then save your confirmation.
  6. Keep the process moving. Monitor email, prepare for interviews and record renewal conditions and uncovered costs. If an award has an unannounced call, set a reminder to check its official page while you work on options with confirmed dates.

Still deciding where to begin? School-leavers can examine Pearson, UBC, MIT, Caltech and eligible government undergraduate schemes. Master’s applicants can compare Erasmus Mundus, ETH ESOP, CSC and Commonwealth routes. Research applicants can investigate SINGA, HKPFS, KAUST, DAAD doctoral funding and university research scholarships. Use these as starting points, then let your actual eligibility and engineering interests make the choice.

Give the nearest dates priority. As checked on 9 October 2026, the University of Toronto’s Pearson school-nomination deadline is 9 October 2026, and the University of Melbourne’s next published Engineering and IT scholarship round closes on 11 October 2026. Commonwealth Master’s and eligible Commonwealth PhD applications close on 20 October 2026. ETH Zurich ESOP applications run from 1–30 November 2026, while the HKPFS initial application closes on 1 December 2026 at noon Hong Kong time. Match each date to its specific task, including any earlier local nomination deadline.

Your engineering scholarship plan can start with one programme page today. Check its entry rules, write down the first deadline and identify the next document or conversation you need. Then repeat that process for the strongest options on your shortlist. You will have a practical route from “I want to study engineering abroad” to applications you are ready to submit.
