The University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Frontier Sciences is calling for applications for the Summer Internship Program in Kashiwa (UTSIP Kashiwa) 2025, a hands-on research program designed to inspire and equip undergraduate students with real-world academic research experience. Since its inception in 2013, UTSIP Kashiwa has provided a platform for students to engage in multidisciplinary research across fields like biology, chemistry, environmental studies, IT, and more.

Internship Program Details

  • Program A: May 26, 2025 – July 11, 2025 (47 days).
  • Program B: June 16, 2025 – August 1, 2025 (47 days).

  • Weeks 2–6: Research activities guided by host laboratories.
  • Final Day: Research presentation and certificate ceremony.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be an undergraduate student (S1 batch 2022 preferred; 2021 batch students may apply with academic supervisor approval).
  2. Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 (out of 4.0).
  3. Hold valid English proficiency test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC).
  4. Provide the following documents:
    • University transcript (in English).
    • Certificate of enrollment.
    • Scanned passport (valid through August 2024).
    • Recommendation letter from an academic advisor.
    • CV and research plan.
    • Parent’s support statement (ITS-specific requirement).

Application Process

  1. Prepare Required Documents: Compile all required documents in PDF format.

  4. Interview: Selected applicants will participate in an interview session on 9 January 2025.

The application submission deadline is 8 January 2025 at 09:00 WIB. Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
