In a major move to boost its digital economy and tourism sector, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order No. 86 on April 24, 2025, officially introducing the Philippines Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) program.

Why is This a Big Deal?
Imagine sipping coconut juice on a white-sand beach while attending your Zoom meetings. That dream is now legit, thanks to the DNV! The Philippines joins the global digital nomad movement with this visa, giving remote professionals a one-year (renewable) legal stay in the country, with multiple entries allowed.
The goal? Attract international digital workers to stay, spend, and immerse themselves in the local culture – all while helping fuel the nation’s growing digital and tech ecosystem.
Who Can Apply for the Digital Nomad Visa?
Not everyone can pack their bags just yet – but if you tick the boxes below, the islands are calling:
- You’re 18 or older
- You work remotely using digital tech (freelancers, remote employees, solopreneurs – you’re all in!)
- Your income comes from abroad
- You have valid health insurance during your stay
- No criminal record
- You’re a national of a country that offers a similar DNV to Filipinos
- Your country has a Philippine Foreign Service Post (FSP)
- You’re NOT employed by a Philippine-based company.
What’s the Visa Duration?
- Initial Visa Validity: 1 year
- Extension: Renewable for another year
- Bonus: You can come and go freely – it’s a multiple-entry visa.
What Happens Next?
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will be issuing the visa, with guidelines expected within 30 days from the EO signing. That means by late May or early June 2025, we should have application forms and official instructions ready to go!
In the meantime, the government is working closely with the DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) to ensure that the visa serves both security and innovation goals.
