Unlike academic scholarships centred on classroom study or degree completion, this fellowship focuses on direct skills transfer through short-term placements at cancer centres, hospitals, and research institutions abroad.
The 2026 call places particular emphasis on public health interventions and evidence-based cancer control strategies that can realistically improve healthcare systems in participants’ home countries. Projects related to cancer prevention, early detection, affordable treatment access, palliative care, cervical cancer prevention, and HPV vaccination expansion are especially encouraged.

Who can realistically qualify for the 2026 UICC Technical Fellowships?
The fellowship targets mid-career or experienced professionals already active in cancer-related work. Eligible applicants include epidemiologists, clinicians, nurses, cancer researchers, health educators, administrators, pathologists, nutritionists, and implementation researchers working in oncology or cancer control.
Applicants are normally expected to hold at least a master’s degree. Medical doctors may qualify with professional medical credentials and near-completed board certification, while registered nurses with RN qualifications are also eligible. Medical students and PhD students are not eligible for this fellowship.
