  • Tuition Fee Reduction: The scholarship covers the difference between the international and home tuition fee rates for the duration of the PhD/Professional Doctorate program. This means successful candidates will pay fees aligned to the UK rate, currently £4,786 for 2024/25, subject to an annual increase of approximately 3% in line with UKRI regulations.
  • Financial Support: While the scholarship significantly reduces the tuition burden, applicants must ensure they have sufficient funds to cover the remaining tuition fees and living costs throughout their study period.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the SUIPRES scholarship, applicants must:

Program Requirements: Apply for an eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate program at Swansea University within the Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines, including:

    • Ancient History, Ph.D.
    • Applied Linguistics, Ph.D.
    • Classics, Ph.D.
    • Development Studies, Ph.D.
    • Egyptology, Ph.D.
    • Philosophy, Ph.D.
    • Politics and International Relations, Ph.D.
    • Social Policy, Ph.D.
    • Sociology, Ph.D.

Academic Excellence: Achieve or expect to achieve a 1st class or 2:1 UK undergraduate degree (or equivalent international qualification) and/or a Distinction in a UK master’s degree (or international equivalent). Excellence beyond academic qualifications must be demonstrated as part of the application.

International Status: Be classified as an international student and eligible to pay the international rate of Swansea University tuition fees.
