Planning to study in Australia in 2027? Before you start imagining your first day at Charles Darwin University, tackle the question that matters just as much as admission: how will you fund your degree?

CDU has confirmed its 2027 teaching calendar, giving international applicants a starting point for preparing documents, meeting English requirements and exploring scholarships. However, admission availability and scholarship availability are separate: several international awards are still awaiting confirmed 2027 commencement terms.

Your best approach is to prepare a strong course application now, identify the right funding route and obtain written scholarship confirmation before committing financially.

Which CDU Scholarships Should You Target for 2027?

Your scholarship shortlist should match your qualification level, course and background.

Do not build your budget around an unconfirmed scholarship percentage. Ask CDU to specify the award, eligible course, duration, remaining tuition and conditions in your offer.

For research applicants, a full tuition award does not automatically include living expenses. CDU’s research scholarship information states that international RTP stipend places for Semester 1, 2027 are exhausted. Further opportunities may be announced during 2027, but Semester 2 stipend availability is not guaranteed.

What Can You Study—and Are You Eligible?

International applicants can explore multiple subjects, but admission and funding must be checked against the exact course.

CDU’s study areas include business, accounting, engineering, information technology, education, arts, law, social work, public health, nursing, psychology and environmental sciences. Course availability, campus and intake vary.

• Applying for a bachelor’s degree? Check whether your school qualification meets Australian Year 12 equivalency, country-specific grade requirements and subject prerequisites.
• Applying for postgraduate coursework? You normally need a recognized bachelor’s degree. Some courses require relevant subjects, professional registration or work experience.
• Considering research? You generally need an appropriate honours qualification or a master’s containing substantial research, plus an available supervisor.
• Need a pathway first? Investigate the relevant diploma or qualifying program instead of assuming you are ineligible for university study.

Which English Test Should You Prepare For CDU Admissions?

IELTS is not compulsory for every applicant, but acceptable alternatives and minimum scores depend on your course.

The following standard requirements appear on CDU’s international Bachelor of IT and Master of Data Science course pages:

Professional courses can demand more. Bachelor of Nursing requires IELTS 7.0 overall, with Listening, Reading and Speaking 7.0, and Writing 6.5. Its PTE alternative requires 63 overall, with Listening 58, Reading 59, Speaking 76 and Writing 60.

Master of Teaching Secondary requires IELTS 7.0 in every band, or PTE 65 in every skill, among its accepted alternatives.

Duolingo is conditionally accepted until 14 August 2027: standard undergraduate applicants need 110, and postgraduate applicants 120. Eligibility is restricted to specified groups, including onshore international applicants and applicants from eligible Level 1 countries. Do not assume this route will cover every nationality, course or Summer intake.

Qualifying previous English-medium education may also satisfy the requirement. However, a medium-of-instruction letter alone does not automatically secure an exemption. Check the English-language policy and your course page before booking a test.

How to Apply for CDU Admission and Scholarship?

Apply for your chosen course, then complete the scholarship process attached to that opportunity.

1. Choose your 2027 course and intake. Confirm international availability, campus, academic requirements and English scores.
2. Prepare your documents. Gather your passport, certified academic records, grading scale, English evidence, CV, requested Statement of Purpose and translations where required.
3. Submit through CDU StudyLink. Online admission applications are free. If direct applications are restricted for your location, use an authorized CDU agent.
4. Request CDU Scholarship Assessment. Confirm whether your 2027 award requires a separate form or assessment through admission. Submit any additional application by its announced deadline.
5. Review and accept your offer. Check scholarship coverage and remaining costs, satisfy conditions, and provide the required agreement and payment evidence.
6. Obtain your Confirmation of Enrolment. Use it for the student-visa application, then complete enrolment arrangements.

PhD applicants should contact a supervisor first. For project-linked scholarships, send an expression of interest with your CV, transcripts and research evidence.
